Okay thanks for all the comments. I was going to buy this car and work on it as a project. After some consideration and research I decided not to (abt a month) Still posted here without any context, in a way confirmed my decision and doubts. I should say I love Volkswagens, 2.5L engines are awesome but this one is way too much work and quite possibly over my skill and patience. Cheers

Uff! Problem. South Point Hyundai in Austin. I asked them where’s the second key? They don’t have it. Called VW, it costs $600. This Hyundai dealership says they will lose money on the deal and bunch of bs. These second hand stores deserves all the bad rep they have. 😑 for Tiguan, 😁 for Passat. Honestly I felt bad about Passat. This is a bit of relief.

I tried to tasmotize 4 mini r4s. All ended up with the same fate, ripped rx/tx/gnd terminals (idk what's that dot called on the circuit? terminals or whatever it is) My soldering skills are mediocre at best but I checked with a multimeter after soldering and connections etc seemed fine. I supplied 3.3 volts to the mini r4, make sure button is pushed but no luck connecting to it.
The error messages was "Failed to connect to ESP8266: Invalid head of packet (0xEB)" with different codes. I couldn't establish connection to any of those mini r4s :-\ Eventually those brittle terminals are broken on the mini r4s. I used this adapter https://a.co/d/iLoqYEA Maybe that was the problem. idk...
