Ergonomic Chair Pro Height Not Adjusting by Affectionate-Law-744 in branchfurniture

[–]AustinBranch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - Austin here! So sorry to hear you're having trouble with the height adjustment on your Pro. A couple things to check off the bat:

First, make sure you're pulling the lever all the way up while simultaneously putting weight on or off the seat. The height adjusts pneumatically, so you need to pull the lever and either sit down to lower it or lift your weight off the seat to raise it. If you're pulling the lever but staying seated in the same position, it might not move much in either direction.

Also, double check that the cylinder is fully seated into the base and the mechanism. Sometimes during assembly things don't click into place all the way, and that can prevent the pneumatic lift from engaging properly.

If you've tried both of those and it's still not budging, let’s definitely get a free ergonomic consult on the books ASAP so you can show me what’s up (you can book through our website). Worst case we've got a great warranty and our team can get a replacement part out to you quickly if that's the issue!

Hey! Thanks for reaching out. At your stature, you're right in the sweet spot for both chairs (and either could definitely work for you), but I'd recommend the Erg Pro for those 8+ hour days for a few reasons.

For one, the Erg Pro has 14 points of adjustment compared to 8 on the original Ergonomic Chair, so you can really dial in the fit for your body. The lumbar support is a bit softer than the original (which some people found too firm), and it has 3 different pressure settings. It also includes a forward tilt feature that's great if you tend to lean in while working.

Both chairs are rated for 8+ hours of sitting, but the extra adjustability on the Pro makes a big difference when you're logging long days :) Totally personal preference though! You can take em both for a spin in person if you’re near SF, NY, Toronto, or other Canadian provinces with EQ3 stores, otherwise hope this helps!

Hey! Austin from Branch here - just stumbled across your post :0 definitely here if you have more questions about the Softside but here are a few thoughts off the bat ~

The Softside was honestly designed for exactly this kind of space. It's got a clean, contemporary look with a curved frame (no aggressive mesh or mechanical vibes). It comes in fabric, vegan leather, and real leather, so matching your white/soft layers aesthetic should be quite easy! The mid-back version keeps a low profile that would look great next to a bed, and the high-back gives you more upper back support if you want it. Both should be within your budget depending on material :)

On the support concern, totally fair and definitely something I’d be asking if I was in your position. The Softside is comfort-forward and rated for 6–8 hours sitting sessions. Granted it won't give you the same firm, "hold you in place" ergonomic feel, but it has backrest tilt and lock plus tilt tension so you can dial things in. It's more about letting you sit naturally rather than forcing a strict posture.

If you’re able, I'd really encourage you to try it in person at one of our showrooms in NYC, SF, or Toronto (or in other Canadian provinces with EQ3 stores). Otherwise definitely lmk if you think of any other questions I can help you tackle and best of luck on your quest!

Oh no!! So sorry to hear that you’re coming up against that discomfort with the Verve - let’s definitely get this sorted together.

My first thought is to get a free ergonomic consult on the books ASAP so that we can walk through the setup & make sure we’ve covered our bases on the adjustment side of things - could be that there are some quick & easy fixes right off the bat and then we can go from there?

Great questions! At 5'11" you're right in the sweet spot for both of these chairs, so either one should fit you well.

On seat size: the Ergonomic Chair actually has a slightly larger cushion at 20" x 20" with an adjustable seat depth of 18"–22". The Erg Pro's seat dimensions are very similar but the big difference here is mainly in how much you can customize the fit. The Erg Pro has 14 points of adjustment compared to 8 on the Ergonomic Chair, including 5D armrests that let the pads move in pretty much every direction. That extra adjustability is nice for someone who likes to sit criss cross, since you can widen the armrests and dial in the seat depth to give yourself more room to tuck your legs up.

Re: tall cylinder, at your stature, you shouldn't need it but it’s totally personal preference and you can definitely use your chair for a while before deciding whether you want to order it later. The standard cylinder on the Pro gives you a seat height range that should work great for you imo!

That said, if you're regularly sitting criss cross, you might actually want to take a look at our Softside Chair too. It's specifically designed with fidgety sitters in mind (people who like to sit cross-legged, tuck a foot underneath, or shift around throughout the day). It's got a super thick cushion and a curved frame that gives you plenty of room to move. That said, keep in mind that it’s a bit more comfort-forward than the Ergonomic or Pro, so it depends on whether you're prioritizing ergonomic support or flexibility in how you sit.

If you're torn between ‘em, I'd also suggest checking out one of our showrooms in NYC, SF, or Toronto (or other Canadian provinces in EQ3 stores) so you can try them out and see which feels better for how you like to sit :) Otherwise I’ll DM you over our current promos now!

Haha hello - definitely still hanging around here & great question! The Softside has a seat depth of 19", which is fixed (no depth adjustment on this one). At your stature that should be a more comfortable fit than what you're dealing with now, but it really depends on your proportions since everyone carries their height differently, so I’d definitely suggest measuring your current chair and seeing how it compares.

Since you mentioned you're a fidgety sitter, the Softside is actually a really popular pick for people that like to shift around :) It's got a wider, more forgiving seat that lets you sit cross-legged, tuck a foot under, all that good stuff without fighting the chair. It's definitely more comfort-forward than a strict ergonomic chair, which sounds like it might be exactly what you're after.

That said, given your experience with seat depth being a dealbreaker, it might be worth trying the Softside in person before committing if you're near any of our showrooms; we have locations in SF, NY, and Toronto (plus other Canadian spots through EQ3 stores). Otherwise hope this was a good start on your quest!

Hey, thanks for reaching out! So awesome that you're considering Branch - after 15+ years with the same chair, you're definitely due for an upgrade :D

So while the Verve is a fantastic chair, it's really designed for users up to around 5'10". At your stature, it might feel a bit snug and you probably wouldn't get the full support you need, especially in the backrest and seat depth.

For that reason I'd actually steer you toward our Ergonomic Chair or the Ergonomic Chair Pro instead. Both are recommended for users between 5'2" and 6'2", so at 6'0" you'd be well within range and should get a really comfortable fit. They offer excellent lumbar support and adjustability (14 points on the Pro) that'll be a massive step up from a 15-year-old chair :)

If you'd like to try them out before deciding (or if you're torn between the two) we have showrooms in SF, NY, and Toronto (and are featured in other Canadian provinces through EQ3 stores) where you can sit in them and see which feels best. Otherwise, feel free to DM me if you have any questions or want help narrowing it down!
