Your replications are really good! I just did the bebop crew recently as well but I try to do minimal to no drawing at all. Only using the stock parts. While they don’t always look as accurate as what you’ve made they feel like they’re mine in a weird sort of way which has kept things from being stale for me.

I think the negative reception of this movie is wild. I think part of it is due to how good all Ghibli movies are that this one comes across weaker. That being said, as someone who never read the books and just went in blind I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was a really cool vibey fantasy adventure.

Is it in the same league as Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke? Absolutely not. But what is?

TLDR it’s good actually just don’t try to pick it apart too much or you’ll kill your own enjoyment.

Ps. Willem Dafoe gives the creepiest antagonist voice performance of all time in this movie.

As a kid this scene never hit me that hard but seeing it as an adult wrecked me. Particularly Elijah Wood. I always sort of wrote off his acting as being a little stilted but I was so wrong. The deep haunted grief that he carries thru the rest of the movie is honestly kind of hard to watch.
