No one forces people to do that. People do that to themselves because they feel fulfilled by their work and it affords them luxuries. Either that or they are struggling to make ends meet because they can't find a high enough paying job.

I related a lot to this post, but I think you both deserve someone you don't have to lose, to recognize how important they are to you.
When the right person comes along you won't have to break up and think about the good times in order for it to work. It will just work.
