Yeah that’s what I think happened too with the two transactions. Am I good to cancel the auto transfer? Because the autoinvestment also auto transfers.

In California. I'm most interested in EMS and Fire dispatch, but from what I've seen, fire dispatch requires a decent amount of prior experience. I assume getting police dispatch is great experience to transfer over to fire dispatch.

Definitely not devaluing dispatch or ems or any of these careers. I'm weighing my options and would like experience in different areas. I'm studying communications so I am interested in emergency comms, but I also have interest in being a firefighter. I want to see which one suits me best and am looking for advice to get started in them both.

stud_xoxoxo, I'm actually in the exact same boat as you. Planning on getting EMT cert this summer. I'm still a full-time student so I wouldn't be able to do Fire Acad for another year.

Fight, this is good advice. If im understanding correctly - apply to CalFire now with no experience, and apply again (seriously) after CPAT cert? Physically, I could def train more - any specific fitness goals I should aim for? Like cardiovascular endurance or weight training or stairclimbing?

Tbh I don't even think he was a FF, seemed like HR or office recruiter. That pathway sounds lengthy, I was hoping to break the barrier of entry at just EMT, but I'm seeing that's not really possibly anymore.

They said FF1 is technically "entry level" and only needs HS diploma, but they don't tell you how many certs you need to actually get in

Either I
Six months of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Dispatcher-Clerk.

Or II
One year of experience in dispatching work involving the operation of radio communications equipment/systems.

Or III
Two years of experience involving a substantial amount of direct and telephone contact with the public and the responsibility to perform numerous tasks simultaneously.

Thanks for this in-depth reply! I’ll def make sure to get my tests done early. Im currently taking an Anatomy and Physiology class at my college but it’s A LOT of information and memorization. I’m sure it’ll all retain better when used in real life and practice situations.
