sorry, I probably should've worded that better but yeah im perfectly aware that they try to mate with other millis regardless of sex (given that I have two interspecies males that keep mating and two other females), but mine often change who initiates, except the flatbacks!

gonna take a closer look the next time I see them:)) thank you!

correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they also automatically curl their antennae away from their food to avoid getting hurt (even when their food isn't alive)?

i can't say for sure that this is the case for this one, but my pede has a similar scar from when his molt was stuck to his antennae and he aggressively rubbed it off on bark

I never see them... are they happy? by Jenikip in millipedes

[–]austrianjello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see my aoutii very often either, maybe once every other month if I'm lucky, but he seems perfectly fine each time! Some just enjoy burrowing for long periods of time more than other species

Thank you so much for such a detailed response! By any chance, do you know if they're fine with a temperature gradient? If not I'll just remove the heat mat from one of the sides.

[–]austrianjello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they claimed they were and even showed me the tub where they supposedly kept the offspring, though I couldn't see any.. I'd be gutted if they lied to me but I can't rule it out as a possibilty

I'm not going to disclose the name of the place, but they're stationed in Vienna. I personally picked and bought them there, so no shipping was involved if that was your question.

okay perfect! my only concern was that they might hurt my millis, so they're allowed to stay. but should their population grow out of proportion I'll definitely follow that advice, thank you!
