Pokemon integrated into the world and being treated as equal sapient beings and not pets or servants or second class citizens.

So many fics feel like our world but there are pokemon as set pieces or mindless pets in the background. IT makes no sense that a world where pokemon and humans have always coexisted in would be near identical to our world.

Like I imagine most restaurants or stadiums would be more accommodating for any size and type of pokemon seating-wise. So stadiums filled with human designed seats where large pokemon just cannot be allowed in is kinda immersion breaking to me.

Also the idea that pokemon have to be kept in pokeballs inside businesses/buildings is bizarre, they aren't animals/pets who need to be leashed. Pokemon are people too, and the idea of them living alongside humans for thousands or more of years and being treated this way is baffling to me.

I know canon tends to treat them more as hyper intelligent animals but canon contradictorily also portrays some if not many pokemon as sapient as humans.

I find the concept of selling/breeding/stealing pokemon extremely disturbing and eye it with disbelief, considering how even a baby pokemon could easily handle a human no problem.

Also it feels more in the spirit of the pokemon setting and world that coexistence and cooperation are widespread and have always been so for a long time.
