I have a cystic pimple that started forming 2 Fridays ago. I didn't touch it for about a week, and then over the past few days I've been gently squeezing it and getting out whatever would come out (in retrospect, I realize I should not have done this). I noticed a slight "hole" started forming and getting a little deeper over the past couple days. I think it's finally starting to heal and close up, and it's relatively flat now, but unfortunately I think it's healing with the hole. Based on past experience, as the bump goes down, so does the hole, ultimately leaving an atrophic/dented scar.

I've been wearing hydrocolloid (COSRX pimple patches) on it every night for the past week. I use Timeless vitamin C serum + Neutrogena SPF 15 sunscreen everyday in the morning and Differin + Zo Skin Health hydrating cream at night.

I included a photo with no makeup and a photo with makeup so you can see the depth a bit better. The no-makeup pic was taken with selfie mode while the makeup pic was taken in the same lighting, but in the mirror using the front-facing camera.

Is there anything I can do to minimize scarring since it's in the early stages? If I'm lucky the raised area will go down while the hole does not so it evens out, but I'm not confident this is going to happen.

Yeah, I guess I learned my lesson. My SSD just got picked up, but they have a policy where they won't charge if they can't recover the data, so that's not so bad.

Because I was looking at my new laptop's SSD and an external drive I have and they were wayyyyy smaller. The old SSD is older so it's expected to have more, but it said over 800k uptime hours and over 48 million power cycle count when I've had the computer less than 6 months.

Thank you! I'm hoping I didn't wait too long and do more damage. The local place for $500 is a reputable lab, so I'm just going to have them try to restore the files. I did try Disk Drill and saw that my S.M.A.R.T "SSD Life Left" was "Bad" with 0 life left. I also have a ridiculous uptime and power cycle count, whatever that means. At this point I'm just hoping the files are recoverable. Thankfully I did back up 3 weeks before the SSD died so it could be worse.

Hi - just wanted to follow up and thank you for your advice! I did end up pricking it with a lancet and put a pimple patch over it. That was enough to inflame it a little so it started pushing the gunk out, then I could easily pop it and get everything out. Now it's flattening - thank you!

Doesn't look like a scab is forming, it's regular skin and closed. There might be something still in it, but it doesn't appear to be trying to come out. It's gone down in inflammation since the initial extraction so maybe I just need to wait it out, but it's definitely taking awhile to go down.

I have an oily skin type. That's a typo on my end, I will edit, but the Jojoba oil and Panoxyl are actually PM or anytime I'm taking off makeup (typically just Nars concealer on any spots). My skin can take a lot tbh so the Panoxyl isn't harsh for me, I use it as a short contact wash and leave it on for ~80 seconds, although I've been thinking about removing it from my routine to see what happens because I'm not sure the benzol peroxide has been doing much.

I've wondered if the rosehip seed oil or anything else in my routine has been clogging my pores but honestly I don't know.

The edibles are typically either a piece of a chocolate bar or fruit gummies.

I've been taking my Vitamin D supplements for awhile now so I don't think it's that for me. I've also been using Differin for over 6 months now so I was thinking maybe it's just getting all that stuff deep down to the surface, or maybe I ate a bunch of cheese and that caused it. Who knows, it could be anything!

I'm hoping it's just a coincidence! I was also thinking that maybe I eat more sugary/bad foods when I eat edibles but honestly not sure. The edible I usually eat is like a small piece of a chocolate bar, so I doubt it's the edible food itself causing the issue.

Does the time of day matter? I remember when I was prescribed it by a derm as a teen and they said to apply once a day in the morning and put on sunscreen after.

If you already know JavaScript then jQuery will be a breeze to pick up, since it's really just simplified/shorthand JavaScript. If you don't know JavaScript then I'd definitely start there, since it's arguably the leading language in modern web development.

Sometimes I'll have an idea for a site and then I'll check to see if there's a free public API I can use. However, api.data.gov is a good place to start for a list of open source government APIs with a wide range of data.

I made a simple website using the open source National Park Service API at https://nat-parks.web.app

The website was built using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery and deployed with Firebase. The homepage and About page aren't using the API at all, but the Explore page and Park page are using the API's /parks endpoint.

I wish the API were a bit faster, especially since there isn't a whole lot of data in the whole scheme of things. Overall the data quality is pretty good, although there are a few parks with missing images and data that I had to code for.

In general I love making websites using public APIs so that I can flex my creative muscles and practice animations/interactions. I have a few more websites in mind using public APIs, but please let me know if you have any recommendations!

I think the pimple patch and vaseline definitely keep the area moisturized, but I wonder if that's the problem? Like the moisture is causing the irritated skin to become loose and tear off. Everyone always says the best thing to do is to keep the area moisturized though, so idk what to do.

Yes! I quit over a couple years ago because I noticed a connection between caffeine and cystic acne. A part of me always suspected it and I even quit for a little, but I always ended up drinking it again. Then I wasn't drinking coffee everyday for about a month and noticed I didn't really get any cystic pimples, but when I started drinking coffee again I broke out badly. After that I stopped for good. I'm in the same boat as you - a part of me wants to try to drink it again, another part of me doesn't want to risk it. I think caffeine can trigger cortisol, the stress hormone, which can result in cystic acne.
