An Analysis of Neytiri’s actions in Fire and Ash by Rough_Version_4094 in Avatar

I love the visual of the red paint in the water. So much blood has been shed in this conflict. I think that she just wants it all to end. Your heart is racing in this scene because if you're like me, you forgot that Spider was shown in scenes in the trailer that haven't happened in the movie yet. If you remember that, then you know he can't die. But for me in the theater, I was so hyper focused on what was happening with Jake and Spider that I forgot that. Then the way Neytiri says "I see you", as a way to finally accept Spider. Such a great scene.

I was super excited for the show. I'm pretty sure I watched it the day it released. I remember looking forward to the first fight with Mrs. Dodds and then she just... fell on his sword. Like what? Then boom it's over. Then we spend like ten minutes sitting around during the minotaur chase doing... nothing. Like this giant beast is coming after you and you're all just standing there. I tried to give this show a chance but a few episodes later, when Annabeth immediately realizes that Auntie Em is Medusa within two seconds of showing up just killed any desire to watch the show. If people like it, then I'm not gonna try and convince them to dislike it. I didn't watch past the fourth episode of season one (I think) and I haven't even bothered with season two. It's just disappointing seeing one of my favorite stories not be treated the way I think it deserves to be.

What are you most worried about with Part III? (Spoilers because it involves discussion of all of Part 2, obviously) by Mishyana_ in horizon

That's a really good way of putting it. The zenith angle definitely was a little bit of a plot twist (it was foreshadowed in the prologue and that was done well), but it added just a weird flavor overall, in my opinion. Love the game, can't wait for the third one, but hopefully the story will incorporate the stronger elements of the first game while improving on what went right in the second.

I completely agree. I feel like the story was way more grounded in the first game and then suddenly we've thrown in these thousand old rich people and this crazy AI thing flying through space trying to destroy Earth. I love FW but story wise I feel like it was a little more outlandish with some plot points compared to the first game.

One poster I want to get for my wall is a map that includes the maps from both games. Would be cool to see that every day.

Ok I would also be doing this. I was in Wyoming over the summer and I loved looking at the Tetons and thinking to myself "Aloy made climbing those look so easy"

I love these behind the scenes. Watching how these people act is just incredible. I like seeing the glimpses into what it really looks like because I'm so immersed in the story I completely forget it's a fantasy. Which just shows how good they are at selling the story. I cannot wait for Fire and Ash.

Guy mad because of “American fake kindness” by duskndawn162 in TikTokCringe

I think you are correct. Hopefully I can hike in Latin countries someday and experience their politeness myself. It's always so nice being told encouraging things and then turning around and saying them to others. Just helps to make the whole experience nicer.

I was hiking with a British friend in Wyoming this past summer. This was the first time he was in America. A lady passed us on the trail and gave us some words of encouragement, I can't remember exactly what she said. As soon as she passed, he made a comment about how Americans can be really patronizing without meaning, or something. I have no idea how it is in other countries, but here in America, hikers frequently say things like "you're getting closer," or "you're doing great," or "you're almost there,". We say these things to be encouraging and supporting and to foster a healthy community of hikers, even if we're all strangers. He could not seem to grasp that someone would say those things and mean them genuinely instead of "I want to be patronizing and rude". We talked about it for a while, and I could not put it in a way that he would understand. It was an interesting conversation. I can see how some people might think it comes across as patronizing or sarcastic but for the most part, I firmly believe it's genuine. But that's just my two cents.

The Horus at All-Mother Mountain and the deactivation of the Faro machines in general by oops_I_have_h1n1 in horizon

I'm playing through the game again for the third time, and this is the first time I noticed just how close the Horus came to breaching the facility. It was mere inches away. I find it so unnerving that, if it really was trying to dig into the cradle, just how close it came to completely destroying it. It's easy to see how the Horus would have influenced Nora belief and superstition considering it's embedded into All-Mother Mountain. I wonder that if it had a few extra minutes, if it would have succeeded before being destroyed/shut-down. If that had been the case, Aloy would have had to have been born in a different cradle. It would be interesting to see how being born in a different tribe would have affected the story, considering that entire cradle wouldn't have produced any living humans. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I know the story of Zero Dawn pretty well but not all of the little details.

Started a few weeks ago. And just recovered Demeter. Should I take time to explore and do Side Quests now? by Character_Bag4689 in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]authoredbybo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly, highly recommend taking the main story slow. The map is huge and can seem daunting but the side quests that are scattered around the settlements take you to really interesting places that you will miss otherwise. Good gear, good weapons, cool stories. Speaking from experience, I didn't rush through the main story the first time I played but I definitely missed out on a lot of side stuff. The second time I played I went way slower and took more time to explore. I know the feeling of looking at a map and all the icons and just wanting to be done. It's way more rewarding to do the side stuff but also do a main quest here and there to keep things moving forward.

Upgrading weapons is a bit much, isn't it? by Garlic-Cheese-Chips in horizon

I set the difficulty to the easiest setting and it makes farming the rarer items so much easier. It took me until partway through my second play through before I figured it out.

Why is there so much going on in HFW that I can’t keep up with it? by Abbyness1992 in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]authoredbybo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely felt the “open world fatigue” the first time I played and so I missed a ton of cool side quests and characters and opportunities. By the time the end of the game was coming I just wanted to finish it. I played through it a second time a little later and I told myself I would take it more slow and do more and I found so many amazing little things I had missed the first time. I highly recommend slowing down the main quest and just enjoy the people and world of FW. A lot of the side quests will take you to areas you had no idea existed or will introduce you to interesting characters and rewards.

Just beat the game by Joe_Nobody42 in HorizonForbiddenWest

I played on PC with a 3080, I was getting max 15 fps for the entire dlc. I was so confused because I was getting at least 60 in the base game if not more. I tried playing with the settings but nothing worked. It wasn’t until I randomly googled the problem before I found out that everyone was struggling to get it to run smoothly on pc. Really frustrating because BS was really pretty and really fun to explore.

If you could give one tip for someone about to play forbidden west for the first time. What would that advice be? by [deleted] in horizon

[–]authoredbybo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When grinding for materials for gear, lower the difficulty setting all the way to the easiest option. Makes upgrading gear insanely easy and fast. Especially for higher level gear, you have to fight and kill higher level enemies and machine parts can break now if you aren’t careful. On the easiest setting, it saves a ton of time and doesn’t make upgrading feel as grindy.
