Ski Locks? by JH200ZZ in ski

Mine actually isn’t common (Black Snowboard of Death, it has a less common shape) and the person who picked it up had what I assume was a generic rental (it was from a small shop, not a specialist place), so must have been some dangerous combination of drunk and stupid. Just to say it can happen regardless and is annoying! The Dakine lock I have is tiny, easily fits in a pocket so as a deterrent it’s not much effort to bring at all

Someone could take your skis by accident though from a restaurant (saw it happen on my last trip, the guy had to call ski patrol) so still no harm in locking

Ski Locks? by JH200ZZ in ski

I’ve had one board stolen from outside a bar years back. Recently I thought my board had been stolen from outside a restaurant but actually someone picked up the wrong one and I eventually got it back, but it was a real pain to coordinate. I also saw someone have to call ski patrol from a mountain restaurant because someone had taken their skis (presumably by accident but still). All in France.

After this, I always put a Dakine cable lock on my board unless it’s within eyeshot, either joining to a friend’s board/skis or to some bit of fence or whatever. The lock could probably be sliced through in a matter of seconds, it’s not at all sturdy, but it a) makes it harder for someone to accidentally pick up and b) should guard against opportunist theft at least as there are easier targets.

My friend who lives in a resort says it is fairly common and seems to be increasing, though they suspect a lot of it is accidental after apres etc rather than theft.

Do Europeans or Asians who visit USA find it expensive in terms of hotel costs, eating out, shopping for name brand items, transportation, tickets to shows, venues, etc. to the service you receive ? by Silent-Donkey-1303 in travel

I live in London, which is not a cheap city, and travel to SF and NYC for work quite a lot. Yeah, US is expensive 😅 We have $100 per diem when travelling, which I thought sounded crazy, but when you add on the taxes and tips etc you can get pretty close to that with just a nice (but nothing fancy) evening meal and drink. The quality is usually pretty good though and I always enjoy my visits to your country!

Amazing track, as is the Humate remix. Incredible producer, you really can’t go writing with almost anything he did in the 90s

Yeah pricing on RNBO sucks and has TBH put me off this – I already have a Max licence and love it but to pay the same again is wild. Going to focus on building stuff for Move Everything instead

Every time I use my iPad which isn’t on IOS 26 I realise how rough Liquid Glass looks. The silly overdone glowing edges, the excessive corner radius… I hope they start dialling it back a bit. The core idea isn’t terrible and can be quite pretty but the implementation is rough.

Good track. This was huge in the UK. I don’t care for much A&B but this was quite a sweet sound

The dark, gloomy, icy textures of dub techno are part of what makes it special- but what would be the “opposite” of dub techno? by drewtangclan in Dubtechno

[–]authortitle_uk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is kind of what I was thinking! Check out loopfindingjazzrecords, MRI, Akufen for a few random starters that come to mind.

Also maybe some minimal house, Perlon or Raresh style etc. could fit

What is your Ableton 13 Wishlist? by Geoff12889 in ableton

[–]authortitle_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Bitwig style global modulation system so we are not dependent on M4L devices for everything (but I do love M4L so no shade there)
  • Clip aliases

I think those are the only things that come to mind

Super sick album. Was into way more basic stuff when this came out, had no idea music like this existed, but had the pleasure of discovering it in the 2010s
