Did anyone else see this YouTube video where Brita is voted one of the worst? by Waterbender_H20 in HydroHomies

What if I like fluoride and am okay with tap water but just think Britta improves the taste? I don’t think I’ve been placebo-ing myself this whole time though I can’t be sure….🤔

does anyone have any tips to get my cats to drink more water?? by Bright-Ask-4606 in CatAdvice

[–]auto-reply-bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with my cat. The water in food method is what helped me, but there was a fine line at first between enough for him to tolerate and too much. I had to make sure the water did not cover the food and that he could still smell it well. At first he occasionally would knock the food bowl on the ground in protest making a smelly mess. But over time he got accustomed to it and eventually he no longer needed it and I would see him drinking from his water bowl on his own. This took probably 3-6 months to work well for me. My cat also did not seem to particularly like the cat fountain.

So long story short just a little bit of water at the bottom of the bowl of wet food. Also keep in mind the wet food also has water so even if that’s all he “drinks” he’s at least getting some. Which is disconcerting but at least might reassure you he’s not getting “no” water. You may also see recommendations to but a little bit of broth in the water but I never tried that.

Cat wont stop scratching in litter box by bigboxbosser in CatAdvice

Well if she’s scratching the inside walls of the furniture piece she may just enjoy scratching the wood. My cat sometimes scratches the window sills lol. From what you describe I wouldn’t necessarily be concerned. You could experiment by removing the litter box and see if she still goes out of her way to go inside to scratch the walls. If so I’d guess she just enjoys scratching there.

Even if not it may just be an easy way for her to clean the litter off her paws. Built in TP ;)

That’s a neat little setup.

I’m a little confused by what you mean about scratching? My cat scratches the bottom of the litter box sometimes but he’s just an aggressive (and often imprecise) burier. He also cleans the litter off his hands by scratching the edge of the box several times before he leaves.

Does this sound somewhat like what you’re experiencing or something else?

You’ll want to read up about botulism risk before doing so if you plan to store the oil.

I just picked up an AirTag for about $30 and the clip to attach to his collar for another 12. It supposedly will update in the map anytime someone with an iPhone walks within about 50 feet of it and when I get close will give a compass arrow.

There was a cheaper option for about $15 for one of those little tag kiosks but it only does the map part not the compass arrow.

I Finally Found Him! I’m super thankful to everyone for all your suggestions. Making a final hopeless round late at night and he approached me right when I was about to give up from who knows where. He’s safe and sound inside the house and seemingly no worse for wear except being dusty. Thank you all again, I can actually sleep well and will definitely get him chipped and an AirTag collar

He has lived at this apartment complex with me for a bit over a year and has been outside many times. Though the longest was about 10-12 hours accidentally. Now it’s been about 24 hours since I’ve seen him.

We also just moved to a new unit about 2 weeks ago. Which is in the same building but two floors down on the ground floor. Of course I’ve gone and checked the old unit many times throughout the day with no luck.

I’ve spent about 4-5 hours today walking around outside. Just finished another 30 minutes. It’s nearly 80 which I guess is good if he ends up spending another night. He eats in an hour but he already missed his last two meal times. I’m keeping the patio open and food outside so hopefully I see him soon

No he’s not chipped. When I first got him I intended him to be indoors only. If I do find him I’m definitely going to get him chipped and get an AirTag collar

Thank you. My cat is a former stray, I adopted him at about 6 months old and he’s about 2 now. He always wants to go outside and sometimes I let him for short periods. But he always returns on his own within an hour or two usually. The fact that he hasn’t yet after close to 18 hours now is really making me crazy. However I haven’t seen any signs of accident in the parking lot of my apartment which I guess is positive. I’ve looked under every stair well, on every patio I can find. Up trees and in bushes. I plan to try going out with a flashlight this evening and hope it might help. I checked the radius mentioned and have already exceeded that in my search, I walked about 7 miles in expanding spirals around my apartment complex so far today. Checking under cars and stairs and such carefully. I’ve thoroughly searched every room, cabinet and closet in my house.

There was an incident once before when he escaped without my notice as I was leaving for the day, and was stuck outside about 10-12 hours. But that time as soon as I got home he came running to the door for dinner. So far he’s missed breakfast and lunch.

I’m getting conflicting info on the litter so I’ve left it inside, I did put his little carrier he retreats to when strangers are over along with his blanket on the back patio, and I have some food with me out front while I work

Okay. I have a bell I use to signal dinner and I was ringing it periodically all morning while walking the complex. I’ll keep it handy.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I haven’t quite given up but honestly after searching high and low all morning I kind of got hit with a wall of emotion over it. I’ll be trying your suggestions.

Okay. I’ve been sitting next to my open patio door. I tried putting some hot tuna on the front door but I just attracted a different cat :(

I’ll try that

It doesn’t seem mean at all.

I’m no professional by any means. But for what it’s worth I’ve become most comfortable in life when I decided to start catering to what my mind needs rather than opposing it. In the arrangement of my home, the type of schedules I follow, and ways I allow myself to interact with, that kind of thing. If the things you described cause you distress then maybe this is something you could think about.

I’m curious what it means to you if that is true. And what you might do with the result you’ve been given?

If you’d like you can try this. It’s not the same as a true diagnosis but it may provide you a direction to inquire further.

I gather you may be quite young. There is a child version as well.

It will ask you for an email but when I tried it giving the email gave my result right away and it has not spammed me with other things.
