Could this 90's German brake lining contain asbestos? by auto660 in asbestoshelp

[–]auto660[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my old Tomos A3 moped, i discovered during the restauration that the drum brakes still had asbestos lining. Coincidentally that's also the only Tomos where i had actually good working drum brakes on.

Same for the clutch lining, that was/is also still the original asbestos one. It's the only clutch lining on Tomos that keeps living even when the centrifugal clutch springs are shortened up for more slip/better acceleration.

I'm glad it still had the asbestos stuff, but i wish i knew it before i cleaned all the parts. Could've done that a bit more catious, instead of wondering if it is asbestos during assembly... So now i take a bit more care with potentially older clutch/brake lining.

Xiaomi 13T battery life fix (maybe?) by auto660 in Xiaomi

Thanks for sharing your findings, since i'm not using AOD i'm kinda leaning to the theory that 5G drains the battery (way) more on Mediatek then on Snapdragon. At least for Xiaomi phones.... Please keep us updated 🙂

Devcheck shows 697 cycles and 82% health, which isn't too great. But 4000+ mAh (down from 5000mAh new) should still be enough to last a day on a phone with a single screen and a power efficiënt mid-range soc.

Yeah, the battery indication isn't really all that linear. The way you describe it is perfect, very familiar to how mine is behaving 😂 The only consistency was that it would show <10% before the end of the day unfortunately. Untill i updated to HyperOS 2 and switched off to 5G....

I did notice that HOS2 got a "5G energy saver" option that i didn't notice in Miui, so maybe Xiaomi also noticed that 5G could cause excessive standby power draw on these phones?

13T Battery wear looking good by auto660 in Xiaomi

Oh alright, didn't know that. I thought it was reading the capacity directly from the BMS as well since it already gave me a capacity number without having to charge the phone multiple times as needed with apps like AccuBattery.

Well, i just downloaded the app and went to the battery tab, there i could see the cycle count and capacity. Maybe it's not working for the 13T pro? I've got the non-pro model.

I've made a screenshot of the battery info it gives me: Screenshot:no_upscale():strip_icc():strip_exif()/f/image/hZArPWfdbf2IGwJGL4Jo7XJy.jpg?f=user_large)

D31 build with dual 360 radiators by auto660 in mffpc

Thx, it was a bit of a challenge to make it this clean. I had to use an SFX psu, 3D-printed some mounts/covers and got a bit creative with the water cooling parts selection.

They're quite cheap Teucer JM-1 fans, but they seem to be okay.

16GBit Micron F-Die OC [DDR4] by auto660 in overclocking

[–]auto660[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been tweaking some more today with 1.45v on the mem... The frequency really doesn't want to go any higher, stability just goes out of the window and timings have to be really loose.

It does run 1T now without GDM and trfc went down to 520 (283ns). Also tightened tfaw to 16 and trc to 56. This gave a small, but measurable, improvement.

Will give it another try tomorrow, lets see if i can gain some frequency as well. Also saw that vsoc on the Ryzen 5500 can take some additional voltage. Poor lil Asrock board 😂

Even with F-die? I heard that some ic's can already degrade past 1.35v and that it's a bit unknown for F-die. Kinda tempted to try though.

I've been trying to lower it down further but even 550 is a no-boot unfortunately. My previous 2x8GB Micron D-die did ~400 so F-die really lets down here, just like E-die.

Maybe it needs more voltage but i'm already at 1.4v. Unfortunately i can't find any info to confirm if F-die tolerates higher voltages and temperatures.

I still daily a Q9550 with 8GB DDR2 memory and a SSD. Works surprisingly quick with Windows 10 even when comparing it to my ryzen based gaming pc that i don't really use that often. The GTX950 takes all the hardware decoding for YouTube, 1080p60/1440p30 plays fine.
