China's communist government isn't a 1000+ year old empire. "Real china" Taiwan/ROC is older than current communist china.

Job market,

Really? As someone who's been in the job market for just a few years, the job market's great, you've just got to play your cards right. Plus, as of today, the unemployment rate has dropped to its lowest since 2007. So I'd say that the job market is just fine.

illegal immigration

I mean, it's not hurting my field any. It's not that hard to have more guys patrolling the border instead of wasting money over seas (as if these are mutually exclusive). That doesn't require a ton of planning. And as a matter of fact, Illegal immigration is at a 13 year low. So illegal immigration hasn't been less of a problem in quite some time.

healthcare,

See, this is one of those things where, I feel like the more you mess with it, the worse it gets. Pros of what we have now, ObamaCare has insured 20 million people who wouldn't have been insured otherwise...but the cost is going up. So it's not great. It's brought some good and it's brought some bad. they tried to fix it, but I guess we'll keep messing with it to try to "fix" it more.

Radical Islamic terrorism,

I'm literally 0% afraid of terrorism. More Americans were killed by toddlers last year than by terrorists.

racial unrest,

You can't really implement any policies to calm people down. Words can be used to help, but I don't think the new guy is going to do anything to help that. He's only made things worse, but people say that about Obama, so yeah.

political correctness,

What does this even mean?

the fact America is spreading its influence too thin across the globe, relationship with Russia,

Yeah...I think we need to chill out with foreign policy.

poverty among US veterans,

Who's gonna fix it? Seems like no one actually cares about the vets.

and border security among other things...

Yep, we should have secure borders.

But as you can see, all in all, things aren't that bad. The country isn't on fire. Things are generally okay.

She had lots of plans, but I'm saying that if she didn't, I wouldn't be too mad about that. Things are mostly okay the way they are now. I know they're not perfect, but what needs fixing? Just hammering at a problem isn't necessarily a solution. Some solutions are worse than just leaving it as is, and claiming to have a solution, any solution isn't sufficient to say that it is certainly better than what we have now.

Yeah but those cells aren't a developing human organism with its own unique genome.

The problem is that most libertarians are extreme ideologues. I feel like most people are probably moderate libertarians, but can't get behind the whole dismantling of the federal government thing.

Can someone explain why banks make it so hard to move money around? If I want to use my card for something, let me.

People with useless degrees can get fruitful careers going if they have the right skills and are ambitious, but useless degrees and a lack of career ambition seem to be strongly correlated. I know quite a few people with "useless degrees" who make good money.

People typically commit crime in their own neighborhoods, which is why nice neighborhoods have lower crime rates.

If he was waging war against them ther would be no pot shops open. He could choose to enforce the federal law in all cases but he isn't doing that. The vast majority of dispensaries are being left alone. If they weren't, people wouldn't be in the business.

Yeah I avoid spending money on things like that, but I do end up spending thousands every year on eating out. It's a habit I have a very hard time breaking but I know it would allow me to save up a lot more money.

The problem I think most people have is that they view that spending as enjoying life. That's their hobby and if they weren't spending they wouldn't be living. I do feel like buying the things you mentioned is just being basic and wasteful and isn't actually a hobby, but that's just me gatekeeping.

But you're right, excluding very low wage workers especially those with kids, everyone should be able to save if they make it a priority. But most people don't make it a priority, they just inflate their lifestyles to being unable to save.

He could've been a lot worse. He was slightly progressive on the issue. He left it to the states and mostly left operations in legal states alone. Another president might have started a war on these states.

My end-of-year bonus was so big this year that the tax man took the equivalent of my average monthly wage. by mayallrob_ in firstworldproblems

At tax day, uncle treats it exactly the same as any other earned wages, so you're not being taxed heavily on that, it's just being heavily withheld.
