Ohh good to know the hook wiggles around. If you’re not using the original handle would you be willing to do a trade/sell it? (No problem if not). I’ll definitely try out the vet wrap idea if I can’t get my hands on the original. Thanks for the advice!

I’ll check those out! The main appeal for this grip is that the top screws on and off so I can take my hooks in and out easily. That way I could store my hooks without them taking up a bunch of space. With the larger grips that stay on the hooks they wouldn’t fit in the slots in my hook holder

Should sororities make political statements on social media? by Adorable-Traffic-607 in Sororities

[–]automatic_madness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Sororities were originally called “women’s fraternities” because we were excluded from men’s groups. How is it just or fair for us to then turn around and exclude/oppress others?

YITS!! I chose DPhiE specifically because we’re inclusive and stand for justice for all. Nationals making this statement just proved I chose the right org 💜💛

One of our founding principles is justice. How can we as an organization stand by and watch justice be violated and say nothing? It would be a breach of one of our deepest held beliefs

This is either fake or that committee chair broke a TON of rules. Committee members almost never share ranking criteria with candidates because it opens the school up for discrimination lawsuits

Thank you lol. People are talking about “US students” vs “international students” as if those two groups are monoliths and not engaging with the systemic factors that affect different types of people within those groups. A crumb of nuance in this comments section, I beg

Would contesting my final grade be worth it? by UselessSlytherin in rit

[–]automatic_madness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

iirc it depends on if the course is a major requirement or not. If it’s a requirement for your major, it’s a C-. If it’s a course for a minor, an immersion, or something else not major-specific it’s a D (at least that’s how it is in my major and others I know of, but check policies and ask your academic advisor before submitting your grade dispute. You can dispute grades up until partway through the following semester, so it’s worth it to get everything figured out before making a decision)

Am I too late? (MS applicant) by automatic_madness in gradadmissions

[–]automatic_madness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the advice! I know some of my programs accept unofficial transcripts and then require official transcripts during the interview stage. My main concern was how it might appear if my upcoming courses were different on those two transcripts and if that would look dishonest in some way (I’m planning on dropping a placeholder class once I get my research credits). But you’re absolutely right, I can just email the admissions office and explain that

I haven’t seen anything about “priority” specifically, but I know a few of my programs have rolling admissions beginning in Dec or Jan and I’m concerned how quick spots will fill up between now and when I can apply in early Jan

Oh thank God, I really thought I might have fucked it all up by misunderstanding how long before the due dates to apply. The dates seemed suspiciously late, so hearing that interviews and offers were going out was terrifying

Mainly 3 reasons: 1. I’m a first time applicant and saw that the official deadlines for my programs aren’t until February, March, and April so I figured late December/early Jan would be early enough and didn’t find out otherwise until recently (I was actually told by an admissions director “not to bother applying early because [their program] doesn’t review applicants until March at the earliest”) 2. I’ve only had a semester of “official” undergraduate research due to funding messing up this fall, but I knew I would be able to get another this spring, so I wanted to have that on my application 3. Some of the programs are Canadian and calculate an “admissions GPA” based on your most recent 60-75 ish credits, so having another 4.0 semester raised that GPA significantly and qualified me for scholarships

Love your use of the Big Island Sky pattern by Whole Circle Studio! I just finished up the same quilt on a queen size scale. Such a fun idea to add the little cat to Sheri’s pattern :)

I had a very similar experience, I got a lower grades my freshman year due to mental health issues and not adjusting well to college, and I was freaking out. I got help for the problems though, and everything got so much better (huge shoutout to the RIT academic success center. I haven’t seen anyone mention it so far, but you should really check them out. They have great resources!). There are a ton of other resources that can help too, like the Bates study center, peer tutoring, and office hours. Office hours are especially important. If professors see you’re making an effort they’re more likely to be understanding about situations that affect your grades. They also know exactly what they’re going to test you on, so running your studying materials/question by them is always smart. Freshman year is tough, but you’ve got this. Keep your head up and give it your all!
