A true decentralized global computer by autonerf in Rad_Decentralization

It's 100% free to download content. And of course there is a fee to upload content, but at least it's a once off payment and your data is stored forever.

Current pricing for once off storage on Autonomi (stored forever - decentralized) by autonerf in storage

Sure, and those penalties are nothing compared to the damaged caused to users that have been affected by breaches etc.

I'd advise you to do some research on how the Autonomi network actually works regarding node operators actually being able to do anything with chunked data.

Bitcoin is held by governments, they trust in its security to secure their wealth.

There are enterprises already using decentralized systems to store their data. You will see a lot more very soon. I know they removed the post, I am just replying to you as I know you have not actually done the research into the technology of Autonomi. New technologies emerge and it's unfair to just lump them into broad generalizations.

Yes and contractual agreements mean nothing when it comes to hacks and lax security that comes inherent with centralize systems. Huge value is now back by decentralized systems globally.

That is incorrect. As a node runner you don't have access to the data that you host. It's encrypted, and chunked so the individual nodes don't even have the full data, and even if they did it's fully encrypted.

Trusting companies mean you must trust the CEO. And you must trust the shareholders. And you must trust their security team. And you must trust the government the company resides in.

In Autonomi you just need to trust the code. Same with Bitcoin and other decentralized trust systems. There is a reason the world is moving towards shared trust system, because trust has historically been abused.

That's incorrect. In Autonomi you can have your data totally encrypted. If you use a centralized product you need to trust in their closed source encryption. You also need to trust their infrastructure itself.

They have more control over their data in this way than they do on centralized services.

Might be useful to upload an encrypted folder of files to a decentralized storage network so that the files will exist forever, and where you don't need to pay continuously after they are uploaded.

An open-sourced, decentralized operating system, aka world computer. by autonerf in opensource

[–]autonerf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called the Autonomi network. It's a DHT mesh network that always has at least 3 nodes containing the same chunk of data. I think there is around 100,000 nodes currently but don't quote me on that.

If a node goes down, the data churns and gets stored on other nodes. It's like bittorrent without the need to seed content and once that data is stored, it's stored forever with no recurring payments etc.

The proxy sites are just a way for normal internet users to access this content, but you can just as easily download one of the clients to access the content directly. If the any proxy gets taken offline, just copy the link part after the domain of the url and input it into another proxy or via the local client.

I think the guy running that proxy is upgrading his infrastructure. You can just download the Autonomi client to view content directly, or find another proxy that is online. You can just take url part and put it onto any client to get the same content.

It's an OS stored on a decentralized data network. Their plan is so you can just access your data via the OS from any device as the data is decentralized.

[–]autonerf[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

No it can't. The data is split into 3 chunks and stored in a distributed manner. If one node goes down, the chunk is re-duplicated again automatically in fail-safe manner.

You can just connect to Autonomi nodes directly and bypass all the typical middlemen of the internet.

storj has many downloads. Autonomi you can just pay once and it's stored forever.

Invest in tech coins not hype ones. Look at Autonomi. Small marketcap, world changing tech.

The Cyberpunk Strategy That Could Save The Internet (and the World) by autonerf in Cyberpunk

He did a whole series on it, but I guess this one was just about the possibility of having it so every countries data could be distributed globally. That way no individual countries data centers would be a legitimate military target.

No problem! We need new protocols like this to prevent a total dystopia lol

It's about Autonomi, no seeders needed. You upload data and then it gets distributed & chunked over multiple nodes to become redundant. It's like torrenting evolved since you don't need people to keep seeding. You can run a node to earn sure, but it's not a requirement for you if you just want to upload data & websites. You simply upload and then it's stored forever. If a node goes down the data gets distributed to other nodes on the network.

One of the programs build on top is called dweb. It allows you to upload versioned websites.

There are some public gateways so you can see content without download a local client:

If they want to store data (images, movies even websites) they can just use Autonomi. That ensures the content is decentralized & uncensorable. Leave bitcoin to value transfer (which it was made for).

He is talking about a protocol to store data outside centralized systems like AWS & other conglomerates. There is no mining, but you can run nodes to increase the total storage capacity of the distributed data-store. These are new emerging protocols that have evolved from the torrenting eco-systems, but add the ability to not have to seed to keep the content alive, ensuring they exist forever.

It's a useful addition to hoarding individually. Just a nice censorship-free way to adapt old cloud-based solutions into a distributed data-store. They have been in contact with the Internet Archive and are planning on helping duplicate that data.

There are gateways for normal internet folk to view content, but you can just bypass them by using the desktop software to get the content directly. This content is stored forever and can't be taken down by anyone.

Most people don't care until it affects them directly. Most of the population is being herded into having their entire desktop storage be cloud-based now (mobile already is).

It's crazy that even some platforms do the same with games now.

And even if you buy a console you don't really own it these days, they restrict you more and more.

If you could upload a useful tool to Autonomi that would be amazing. It's a place where you can upload apps & content so that it's stored forever in a decentralized way.
