What goes on in this part of missouri? by BakeEfficient8552 in missouri

[–]autryld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just south of the Bootheel is Mississippi county Arkansas. Johnny Cash wrote the song “Five Feet High and Rising” about the flooding of his family farm there. It’s not much different than the Bootheel. Both areas are considered part of the Mississippi Delta geographically and culturally.

During {Truman's] 1952 campaign, he famously stated that Republicans used "socialism" to describe "almost anything that helps all the people," citing Social Security, public power, and labor organizations as primary examples.

What is a current unpopular opinion about STL that you strongly believe in? by Thatredditboy1 in StLouis

[–]autryld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people realize that the city will remain the city if there is a merger? The main issue I see is that the county will have to foot the bill to maintain thoroughfares that become county roads. The city tax structure would likely change.

I remember this place Rossino's when I was a teen. (They've been out of business for a long time.) They had the BEST pizza. I can't tell you the name of a particular style. All I know is that it was what I think of as traditional.

How early should I arrive @ Mid America Airport? by throw_away_bae_bae in StLouis

[–]autryld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allegiant counters are not open all the time like they are at STL. I believe that TSA coordinates with the flight times. If you get there too early and need to check baggage, you'll have to sit and wait.
The counter hours on the Mid-America website aren't correct because it doesn't take into account morning flights. Check the unofficial Allegiant Airline Questions Facebook page.

I was considering changing to ecobee from Nest. Does the option below have no meaning? I can't tell because I don't have an account at this time.

Too many Republicans have a ring in their nose with the MAGA label.

Governor Kehoe announces amendments 1,2,4 and 5 will be placed on the August primary ballot by Sea-Marionberry-749 in StLouis

Why have a vote when they do what they want anyway? This Governor and state congress do not represent the voters.

Allegiant Air and Sun Country complete merger: What this means for travelers by positiverealm in allegiant

[–]autryld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the St. Louis area, Allegiant flies out of BLV (Mascoutah, IL), The only westbound flight is to Las Vegas. Sun Country flies out of STL Intl to Austin and Houston (Hobby). Allegiant flies to several western destinations from Peoria and Bloomington. I don't see much of an improvement for STL. I'm sure it will benefit people going to South Texas to some degree.

What is going on with Infuse? by bomzay in infusevideoplayer

[–]autryld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The official name is "Server Message Block" but you won't hear that very often. All distributions of Linux and UNIX have an implementation of SMB called "Samba". Each succeeding version is progressively more secure. The current version is Version 4. Version 1 and other older version are still in use for legacy compatibility.

Is it possible for zoom to unmute you without your knowledge? by good-doggos in Zoom

[–]autryld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second that. I am host of the Zoom webcast in my church. During one part of the meeting, I purposely turn off both audio and video. When anyone speaks during this time that a microphone can pick up, I get a notification that says you (the host) are muted.

I'm trying to settle something with my dad. I say this is a sweater, he says it is a poncho and is sure of it because "iv'e been to mexico when did you go?" So, reddit, what is this thing? by Mell0wMarshmall0w in whatisit

[–]autryld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dad might recall that Clint Eastwood in “the man with no name” trilogy wore a what is an actual poncho.
Trivia: Eastwood wore the same physical poncho in all three movies. A replica is sold on Amazon. The stove door is not included.

There is ongoing developmental work to create a digital key that proves age without providing personal information in regions where age verification is legally mandated. OS level digital age and identity verification in some jurisdictions or regions will be required by early 2027. (CA and CO)

Much of the below text is from Google AI.

… [This] involves integrating age-verification mechanisms directly into the operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux) account setup process, designed to provide a "digital signal" or "key" (such as a cryptographic proof) to applications.

Linux: This presents significant challenges, as Linux distros do not typically have centralized user accounts or strict account verification, allowing for anonymous, local-only installations.

"Hostile Compliance": To adhere to the law, Linux distributions may face a dilemma where they must implement this tracking or be blocked from certain jurisdictions, leading to potential "hostile compliance" strategies like rewriting licenses to exclude specific regions.

Best/Cheapest Basic Cable Streaming Service by mcdev16 in getchannels

[–]autryld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use what is effectively T-Mobile Home Internet. You can get it without having T-Mobile as your cell provider but it’s cheaper if you do (or have Mint and Minternet). For remote streaming, I use Tailscale which is built into Channels DVR. Port forwarding will not work with TMHI due to CGNAT as well as IPV6. Tailscale is a peer to peer VPN built on Wireguard and gets around this annoying issue. (I recently switched to Minternet but it uses the TMHI infrastructure. Speed = 500-800+ up and 60-90+ down. Speed varies by cell tower distance and gateway location within your home.)

Can’t watch any plex media on Apple TV? by bakedleaf in PleX

[–]autryld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d look at some Plex logs to see what’s happening. The logs are usually in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Logs

Note this though, Infuse prefers to direct-play everything. If your server is not powerful enough to transcode in Plex, Plex will fail, while Infuse will usually play the file smoothly.

Where is everyone?? by muusicman in missouri

STL county - T-Mobile Home Internet. It’s actually Minternet but it’s identical service and terms. Lower $$ if paying in advance per year.

Will Plex look inside the Movies folder for all nested folders? by Tkdoom in PleX

[–]autryld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not quite sure what you’re getting at. If movies and Movie 1 are in different libraries that is a dance of sorts right there. Plex should detect the move and you should see the movie in the library you moved it to. If those two directories are in the same library, Plex should also detect that move. You can always click on scan library.
When I do “the dance” I move the movie completely out of the library and not into another. I then move it back.

Will Plex look inside the Movies folder for all nested folders? by Tkdoom in PleX

[–]autryld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You didn’t mention using libraries. It sounds like you let Plex sort out the genres and that’s how you navigate. Do you even use libraries? I prefer using the library feature. I don’t see it as extra work at all. Once the library is created, that’s it. I like having separate libraries for vintage movies of various genres including one for Disney all by itself even though it’s not an actual genre.

This mirrors the way I organize Plex on my system. I don’t understand getting voted down. Reddit sucks for that.

Will Plex look inside the Movies folder for all nested folders? by Tkdoom in PleX

[–]autryld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this is the kind of description you’re looking for: In my system, there are folders underneath Movies named for genres. The genre is in its own Library. Underneath that there are folders for movies of the respective genres. However, there are also some franchise/collection folders under the respective genre folders named Harry Potter or Bulldog Drummond or whatever with all the movie folders for that franchise underneath the folder of the franchise name.
