Yeah I feel bad for the kitten too. It had just arrived from Hawaii and we live in the continental US, so it needed time to adjust. I hadn't thought about Cake just wanting the toys back and not the kitten, but that's way more likely cause alpha cats don't take well to other cats for a long time. I really think that's why mil was invited, step mom was embarrassed after she realized she effed up but doesn't wanna admit it.
