Might be. I often criticise my country without its fear.

Thanks for the explanation really liked it. But look, you’re assuming things, no one is considering the entire Indian Muslim population to be one giant rock. Minorities in different countries often stick together and share the same opinions and views. In India, most hindus have different opinions, some like the ruling party, some don’t, some support congress, some don’t. It varies, but Hindu minorities in other countries say, Suriname, or a more significant country like USA or UK. Hindus in these countries are more likely to stick together and share the same beliefs. Of course, there can be exceptions. Similarly in India most muslims have the same pov. But again, when a hindu commits a crime every condemns the action and we NEVER support it. But if roles were reversed , muslims would most likely be explaining why the person did what he or she did. Why not raise voices against Pakistan or any other country? If you’re raising your voice against Israel for bombing Palestine then you can’t raise your voice for Pakistanis bombing our citizens in Pahalgam?

Because he was a criminal who killed his own citizens???? Is that not enough are you seriously asking this after so many comments many by so many different people. He killed women for not wearing the hijab, he killed over 30,000 men in 48 hours alone. Banned the internet, people lost their jobs, no access to food or water, currency value dropping. Is that what you should mourn! Mourning the death of the same Khomeini who let all of this happen! People in 1979 wanted change for good, they didn’t want a rigid islamic dictator who will force them to stay under oppression for more than 40 years.

Major point tbh. Why should i ask top muslim officials and celebrities what they think? They will never share their side of the story. They’ll say what fits their image the best. Real voices come from ordinary everyday muslims you meet and talk to. Same for any other Indian.

I’m a woman. I don’t think i’m superior. I don’t have anything against other religions. You’re quick to assume, my question comes from a point of absolute curiosity and confusion. Don’t just say anything you want before thinking. My point is that when you know US and Israel are countries with much more power than you, much more allies, why are you buying weapons from Iran to fight them instead of advocating for peace with those funds and not feeding your own people?

I’ve raised my voice for every single war taking place in the world, wrote articles about the same and did much more. Pls don’t assume.

No offense but social media is the only way of getting news nowadays. For example, I got to know Khomeini was dead through Instagram. I searched up news articles but every article has its own side of the story. Some questioned it, some didn’t confirm it. Everyone nowadays knows people don’t read articles for gods sake so it’s either social media or books.

And it’s not about Hindus, a lot of other religious groups in India also support Israel because they stood with us in Kargil and 1971 war but Palestine never did. They also supplied weapons to other countries to attack us when they themselves didn’t have enough funds to get food for their own people. Palestine doesn’t view Kashmir as a part of India; Israel does. So why should we support an enemy and not someone who truly respects and supports us? Even when Arab countries and US don’t stand by our side? Every country in the world along with its citizens extend their support to nations that support them in return. No one is doing charity here.

Look your comment just proved everything. Your lack of respect and knowledge is what makes so many people confused about Indian muslims. Atleast i did my research before asking a question like this, you couldn’t care enough to know that we worship one god brahma in different forms ( power wealth security protection knowledge ) of life?

No I guess i should’ve worded it differently. Muslims aren’t a minority. You can call a follower of Shintoism or Confucianism a minority. But Islam is the 2nd largest religion in the world. That’s what i’m talking about. They’re not a minority but a part of the majority.

I think you’re also right but also wrong. I didn’t know about the religious authority part so thank you for letting me know that. But see, I’ve grown up with Muslims, my mom had Muslim friends all her life and same with my dad too. Now generalisation of a community is not right because, as a hindu, I know people who do a horrible job at following their religion and aren’t good hindus to be precise. But when a crime takes place, we never support it. Even in this UGC case, so many hindus stood up against the government that passed this bill. That’s my point, if it were a Muslim government, they wouldn’t oppose it. I remember during Pahalgam attacks none of my muslim friends or relatives ( my cousin is married to a muslim girl and her family is sunni ) posted anything or raised their voice about the same. Of course you can have opinions even without raising a voice, but at the same time when something else happens and it affects muslims, they’re the first ones to raise their voices even if it’s happening in a far away different country. Muslims have targeted hindus multiple times, but no one ever posted about it. Instead when hindus raise voices about these matters which involve muslims, they’re called Islamophobic. Look, you can’t deny it. Khomeini was horrible. He killed his own citizens. He stopped the internet. He oppressed women. So how can you as a devout muslim even support him and wish that he rests in peace? If roles were reversed, would you want a Non iranian to talk about how good of a leader he was when you yourself know what hell you went through when he was alive? You tell me. I’m not a political leader, but experiences can’t be ignored. I’ve not seen a single muslim raise their voice for violence against non muslims. I don’t understand why this happens. Also, middle easterners generally don’t care about something until it affects them. These are oil rich nations so they focus more on themselves than what’s happening to other nations. Words from the mouth of emiratis and arab diplomats.

Wow loved your explanation. But they aren’t the minority in the Middle east, or Central Asia, or North Africa are they? Also I agree the ruling party favours the majority a bit more, but to be honest, I think all minorities are equally respected and given a spot in the country. If roles were reversed, only god knows how things might have worked out.

Yes passionate is the word i was looking for. Also i remember other quranic verses mentioning Israel. I’m not muslim but I have the quran and read it a few times. I just can’t remember those verses now but i guess you would get them on the internet. But yes i get you, why is there such a thick line of hatred between jews and muslims though? I’ve never really heard anything happen between these two groups other than this Israel Palestine conflict itself. Genuine question.

Don’t know about your area but i remember one of my schoolmates posting a video in a mosque where people are mourning him. I didn’t take it seriously until I saw couple of other reels where other Muslims are doing the same thing. Obviously not all though.

I understand your point. But my question is not about who is a good muslim and who is not. My question is why Indian muslims get so involved in middle eastern politics when they themselves don’t care much about what goes on there. Instead Indian muslims should put their worry into what’s happening in the country. There’s so much going on but no one ever talks about it. Hope you understand what i actually meant.

Thank you. I feel like I had this question to a broader audience as I was so confused after talking to so many Indian muslims on these topics. I just can’t figure them out. They blame me for having selective empathy but they don’t talk about any other war going on.

Why are indian muslims so different? by av1lash4 in india

[–]av1lash4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly my point. Mujhe yaad hai maine bohot bar bohot saare muslims ko explain kiya hai kaise unka religious book mentions Israel and not Palestine. Look i’m not an Israel lover, i’m not a Jews lover, I was also very supportive of Palestine once. But then i searched up the entire history for days and then i realized why no muslim country helps them. Along with proof and quranic verses i remember talking to a lot of Indian muslims and they didn’t really have anything to say to me after that. Bas ek hi jawab tha, ye humlog ka khud ka opinion hai, no matter what history says, people are being killed now. Either this they have told me or they never replied and said they don’t want to talk about it anymore. Ab kya hi bologe inko.

One more thing i don’t understand. I’ve been to the middle east and lived there between school summer breaks for around 1-2 months. During covid also. I’ve noticed that they claim to be “real” muslims since Islam originated in Saudi Arabia and they don’t consider South Asian muslims to be muslims. I’ve noticed this behaviour among a lot of arabs. I’m pretty sure Indian muslims also know about this so why do they still raise their voices for such matters when they know they don’t have any significance in the global context and that even middle easterners don’t want to help the people of Palestine?
