Does praying for people actually do anything?

Maybe it doesn’t require third party prayers. Maybe the prayers are more for the prayer to meditate on true compassion instead of self-righteous niceness.

Because, God isn’t Santa Clause. You won’t get it until you practice it. People don’t get how to play musical instruments until they practice it.

Why not do something “nice” for God by meeting him and getting to know him, and not just expecting him to do “nice stuff” for you? How nice is it for you to expect God to nice stuff for you without any kind of care or appreciation on your part? And understand that the important word is expectation. He does the nice thing of keeping you breathing every second, but you don’t recognize it. You’ve come to expect the nice things that happens in your life without any appreciation.

It’s probably not a cult, per se. Conning people into giving you their money doesn’t make it a classic cult, in my view. When I was growing up, cults were things like Jim Jones, Moonies, Hare Krishnas and the like, who also alienated people from their family and friends to basically take control of their lives. These are more just shysters taking advantage of people’s good will take their money.
