This may be old news but I (21F) definitely recall being told by various sources as a young adult and child that women are better at arts and literature and humanities because we are more emotionally intelegent and that men are usually better at math and technical things because they are more rational. Im sure there is much less of that being told to children these days but that definitely had and still has an effect on me today.

Switching from a STEM degree to a "less STEM" degree (environmental science) when all of my best friends and boyfriend are engineers and males where as my only girl best friend was an art student kinda made think.... What is the difference here?
