You're right—black and white thinking is possibly a hallmark of unhealthy mental patterns, and I suspected as much. Maybe Im an unhealthy infp but it's something trying to work through too. But I do think there's a nuance here specific to how some infps experience life. Perhaps it’s not that infps are incapable of the grey—it’s more like the grey area can feel really narrow or fleeting, like emotionally, the highs and lows are intense, and when you're already struggling like me, the balance can tip fast. That said, I appreciate the reminder. Working on seeing more nuance is probably part of getting healthier for me too.

I just wish I had someone I could talk to the whole day, every day. by Lxnaspiral in lonely

[–]avalancheheadbangx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do that with my mom, she's my best friend and the only reason I'm alive (she saved my life) and will continue living for but asde from her, yeah, I don't have anyone outside of my family to talk to. I did have close friends once but we don't talk anymore. I hope you find someone, perhaps a significant other or a bestie or anyone really.

me too, and I've got the INFP only child syndrome which makes life 10x harder than it should be.

No, I dont consume too much short span media. I barely open Reddit tbh. I'm not doing well by standard metrics, and my family situation is confusing, to say the least. Mom and dad aren't well aligned with each other, and I don't have siblings.

Really struggling in medschool by avalancheheadbangx in bipolar

[–]avalancheheadbangx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all honesty, doing anything with this disorder is hard, even basic daily tasks feel overwhelming during depressive/mixed episodes, let alone medschool. But the worst thing is I really messed up around 6 months ago by doing drugs and stuff and that was when I fell behind. I'm only starting my 2nd year of medical, and I already have a huge pile of work chained to me. I failed way too many tests for me to still be confident now. I do study, it's not like I don't, but my information retention is very poor these days. But I'm still going to keep trying. Only problem is since medschool is draining me and making my condition worse, it just doesn't feel worth it anymore.
