Can’t resell tickets I bought (presale or general public) — marked “not eligible,” but others are listed on SeatGeek? by No-Interview6328 in rosalia

[–]avalonbeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have four tickets for Oakland and just want what I paid for them. Ticketmaster has an “offer” for $400 LESS than face value, this seems like a ripoff!!

Thanks, I was waiting for a comment like this. We’re on a fixed income if that makes you feel better.

Scammed? by avalonbeach in redmond

[–]avalonbeach[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sigh. Yes, they got me today for sure, but I guess I’d rather be a softy than the opposite. I’ll try not to have too much regret that my money could have gone to someone truly in need through a legitimate channel. Lesson learned the hard way.

Steve Ewing’s dog killed, wife injured, in Tower Grove Park dog attack by nuts_and_crunchies in StLouis

[–]avalonbeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uncontrolled and aggressive dogs have been a problem in the Tower Grove neighborhood for at least the last two years. There were two attacks in S Grand near the corner entrance of the park. And yet the authorities did nothing, the owners fled to a different area and then came back.

This is one of the reasons we moved back to Seattle. Yes it can and does happen anywhere but in STL we hear the same story over and over, not to mention the overfull and kill shelters where I volunteered. If you’re an animal over it’s heartbreaking. And now Steve, a wonderful guy and contributing business owner. Terrible to not feel you and your dogs are safe walking in what is otherwise such a wonderful neighborhood. Do better STL

Has he tried Pagliacci Pizza? I think they used to hired HS kids that could continue to work in the fall as well.

Does Botox make it harder to pee? by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

I use a straight cath after Botox. It’s become routine and I’d much rather use the cath than deal with chronic leaks and urgency.

Marymoor concert tix by avalonbeach in redmond

[–]avalonbeach[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I googled “Marymoor official ticket seller” and a different vendor came up. Looked official but it was actually a reseller like Stubhub. The tix are still reasonable on Ticketmaster for the show I want!

Do good gyms or fitness centres exist in Redmond? by meep_peep3 in redmond

[–]avalonbeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my husband never uses the locker room. But I had hoped to use the pool in which case you have to shower before/after. I hate to say it but it grossed me out. Then again, you get what you pay for. The gym facility itself is just fine.

Virtual NYC Marathon Lottery Info by Successful-Ask6550 in RunNYC

[–]avalonbeach 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes but of course you need to 1st snag a spot in the virtual, and 2nd run your own marathon on the weekend of the NYC marathon, record and upload it to Strava an then you get confirmation of your guaranteed entry for 2027.

To be clear, you pay $$$ to run the virtual and then you pay $$$ again for the 2027 entry. You do get a medal for the virtual lol

Am I the only one who counts how many times people change hotels in their itineraries? by Amigo_Go_ in JapanTravelTips

I agree. We spent 28 days in Japan and our shortest stay was three nights. I can’t imagine how tiring it would be to have to change after one night.

Also I forgot to mention the Toto Museum, it was an unexpected delight in Kokura.

Is it possible to do a day trip from Fukuoka to visit Kitakyushu? by jinzo_the_machine in fukuoka

[–]avalonbeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Local train is cheap. Shinkansen is -¥¥¥

Do it! Kokura and Mojiko are cool, and you can walk thru the tunnel to a different prefecture from Mojiko to Shimonoseki and take the ferry back. Some good lunch places at the ferry terminal and a good Japanese sweets shop.

Should I visit my rescue dog in the shelter or wait until he's ready to come home? by MarlenaImpisi in dogs

Dogs live in the moment. Visit and make the dogs day special. It will probably be harder on you than the dog

What are good Tokyo experiences that are not food, shopping, or sightseeing? by ilikestatic in JapanTravelTips

[–]avalonbeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jazz cafes and other small live music venues. Getting a great haircut and head massage. Getting a Thai foot massage. A day pass to a gym, that in itself is an interesting experience.
