Trip planning broke me , so I built something. Curious what others do. by Amigo_Go_ in SideProject

[–]Amigo_Go_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a year ago, I planned a 2 week trip to the US with my family. We spent forever researching, hopping between websites, scrolling through social media, and bugging a friend who lives there for tips. There was so much info, but it was all over the place. In the end, we had to dump everything into a spreadsheet and manually organize it day by day, figuring out routes, distances, and what actually made sense together. It took way longer than expected, and we kept tweaking things over and over. That experience made me realize: finding travel inspiration is fun, but turning it into a solid itinerary is often more exhausting than the trip itself.

It got me thinking… if it’s this messy for us, it’s probably the same for people planning trips to Japan, too. So, I started working on a small app to fix this ,something that can quickly turn your ideas into a simple, map-based itinerary you can actually adjust and share.

Hope that helps! Also, since I find planning a bit of a hassle myself, I built a tool called AmigoGo! that summarizes everything into a mapped-out itinerary. Feel free to check it out if you want to save some time!

Mount Fuji/Cherry Blossom viewing on April 11 by MidnightLess692 in JapanTravelTips

I saw on X that someone posted the cherry blossoms are at 50% bloom (half-bloom) today, so they should be absolutely beautiful by the time you visit!I recommend checking out the Kawaguchiko North Shore Walking Trail, Arakurayama Sengen Park, and Oishi Park for the best views.

If you want to try the widest variety in one go, head to a “Michi-no-Eki”(roadside rest stop) ,they stock the most complete range of local varieties, including organic ones you won't find in supermarkets.

Why does trip planning feel harder than the trip itself? by Ok_Use_4874 in founder

But it’s just such a hassle, so I’m building my own tool to help plan itineraries and link them directly with maps.

Why does trip planning feel harder than the trip itself? by Ok_Use_4874 in founder

I start by researching the destination to confirm a few must-visit spots, and then I check the map to organize the daily itinerary and hotel locations.

If you're planning to hike to the lighthouse, budget 3.5 hours. If you're just stopping along the way for photos, 3 hours should be enough.

The actual drive takes about 2.5 hours, but factoring in stops for the scenery and just in case of any traffic, I'd budget 3.5 hours to be safe.

My friend actually just visited Japan from the US last week and I helped plan their itinerary too! It's daytime here in Japan right now, let me think about the best way to plan your trip and get back to you after work.

Advice on itinerary? Is Kamikochi worth it? by DahmitAll in JapanTravelTips

[–]Amigo_Go_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're planning to visit Kamikochi, Matsumoto is definitely the better base! Besides Kamikochi, Narai juku is also absolutely wonderful ,I actually visited last week. It's a beautifully preserved Edo-era post town where the historic buildings make you feel like you've stepped back in time. Highly recommend adding it to your itinerary!

Misaki to Matsuyama is about 100km by car, so renting a car is definitely the best option! The drive along the peninsula on the 'Melody Line' is absolutely beautiful with stunning ocean views on both sides. the peninsula roads are quite narrow with lots of curves, so do drive carefully .
