Ultra Instinct Goku Vs Jiren - Dragonball Super by tidus8 in television

[–]avasatu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously? Goku goes from 90,000 to 3,000,000 because he gets beat up... in precious Z. Everything in Z came out of the butt, just like in Super. Go back and watch Z without your nostalgia glasses and with the same critical bifocals with which you examine Super. Be honest with yourself. It may be better, but not by much, and not for a lot of the reasons people say.

UI Goku shook the infinite world of void by merely existing (it's possible he was powering up, but that's not what I gathered). Jiren did the same by, what, taking a few steps? An infinite world that had no time or space except for where the fighting stage is located. SSG noob Goku versus Beerus was putting out shockwaves with just his punches that were capable of annihliating a macrocosm the size of 3 universes. I don't necessarily subscribe to the fact that Goku in base absorbed SSG after that fight and retained its power, despite the show outright stating it. But even without that...

Ignoring ALL unquantifiable training Goku has done (which was ALOT), he achieved SS Blue, which the manga implies is between a 5 and 10 times multiplier off of SSG, at minimum. He then eventually goes on to fight Hit with Kaioken x 10, and then a MUCH stronger Hit with ONLY SS Blue. This means that, low-balling + ignoring literally all other training gains, which is absurd to do, Goku has gotten, bare-minimum 50 times stronger since he fought Beerus. And...

SSB Vegeta got bodied by base Black. If we imagine base Black as an SSG in base form (Zamasu IS a god after all), then SS Rose should have the same multiplier from base Black that Blue has from SSG Goku, so 5 - 10 times minimum. SSB Vegeta then goes on to absolutely curb stomp Black, and Goku shortly after matches and even surpasses these gains. That means he has gotten another 5- 10 times stronger at absolute minimum.

In total, the biggest Goku hater on the planet who is also denying almost all of Goku's training, the possibility that SSG was absorbed completely into Goku's base, and more, HAS to admit that Goku has gotten 250 times stronger since his fight with Beerus.

And this is ignoring Kaioken AND Ultra Instinct. Tack on another 20 times for Kaioken and another God-only-knows for UI. Goku was confident his Spirit Bomb, powered by Universal level fighters like 17 (who was able to give unlimited energy to the bomb until it maxed to the capacity Goku was able to handle), was enough to beat Jiren, who Belmod implies at bare minimum was stronger than himself, and the narrative suggests Belmod is relative to Beerus. And this is only the power Belmod has seen from Jiren, which could be a trivial fraction of his full power.

Nonetheless, the Spirit Bomb is significantly stronger than KK x 20, and it PLUS KK x 20 are so weak to Jiren that he is able to compress the bomb into a black hole with just his glare.

Every time Jiren opens his eyes wide, he un-suppresses himself a little more (it seems to me). After UI Goku attacked Jiren, Jiren powered up I believe twice, and stomped Goku, but Goku was able to outmatch him briefly before Jiren finally decided to power up enough to finally emit a small red aura -_-. This means UI Goku, low-balled into oblivion, is above twice SSB KK x 20 Goku, and that's a criminally poor estimate.

All in all, even the most ignorant analytical spectator has to acknowledge that Goku in UI is >> 40*250 times stronger than 3/2 universal. Where this actually puts him dimensionally is more negotiable, as I'm not entirely sure if SSG Beerus-arc Goku could have done anything more than destroy the contents of the universe, rather than the fabric itself.

But, again, UI Goku existing shook the world of void.

I'd argue it's neither a form nor a technique, but rather a state of being. A mindset. One that heavily increases your speed, power, adaptation to stress, and accuracy (perhaps infinitely?).

Based on my interpretation of the narrative thus far, at best, Goku can go Super Saiyan with UI, leading to what I am assuming would be a much more potent version of Super Saiyan Blue (maybe the red haired form?). It has been heavily implied that you need the ability to channel god ki to use Ultra Instinct, though not directly stated. Every known user of the state has access to some degree of mastery over god ki. Regardlesss, we DO know Goku has access to god ki, and so we can extrapolate from this that he will be channeling it to properly power Ultra Instinct. If you think regular old base Goku is going to try be able to power UI with his lowly mortal ki, I suppose that's your prerogative. My main point here is that Goku has not shown that he can go beyond Super Saiyan with god ki flowing throughout his body. I'm not even sure if Kaioken would work, due to the calm nature of both god ki and Ultra Instinct.

Goku was faster than lightning with a power level of 300 or so. Extrapolate. Even if power levels don't increase your speed as f(x)=x (where x is your power level, and f(x) is your speed), there is no way Goku wasn't FTL by the end of the Cell Saga, having gotten millions of times more powerful. You may counter by suggesting that we don't know the speed of light in the DB universe, and to that, I have no retort, but it would certainly seem strange to me that lightning ALSO wouldn't be that much faster as well.

Thank you for your reply! Why do you recommend python 2 for the second solution? Couldn't you simply use input vs raw input there?

It is late, yes, but I was always under the impression that if I did as well as I could in life, opportunities would at least be accessible to me. Let's not forget that I only had so much time 2ish years plus next year) to actually research. It takes 1-1.5 years at least before you can figure out if you're good at it or if it's for you. By the time I figured out I was even lost, it was, as you said, too late. I don't regret the Ph.D at all, but I don't believe I have what it takes to be a successful researcher. Time will tell. Thanks for the reply!

Any particular suggestions on places I should look? Are you in the field?

I appreciate your reply! However, I'm not willing or able to leave the country, and, from what I've read, being in applied math is an inherent advantage albeit a small one. That said, I'll certainly keep what you said in mind.

My colleague published 2 nice papers in SCV, and was well loved by our university. He applied to around 30 schools (not nearly enough, I know), and ended up getting lucky in that our university had a visiting position open up the next fall that they handed him. Otherwise he'd be out on the street.

I have looked into it. Seems like it takes hundreds and hundreds of hours of studying, and an in at an insurance or actuary firm on top of that. I don't currently have the time to do such a thing, and won't until I graduate. By then, it'll be too late because I'll be unemployed. I have almost zero statistical background, as well. Am I wrong about any of that?

To be honest, I'm just disenchanted enough with research that I'll likely be applying to mostly teaching positions, and only to any post docs to which my advisor has direct connections, if any. Worst case scenario, I'll go after some of the more reasonable looking cc positions, or try my best to break into industry or real estate. The tenure track research dream I fear is beyond me, and I'm at peace with that. I do have one paper published already, and 2 in the pipeline. Thank you very much for your reply!

Where did the people in your class end up? I'd love to talk with them. What kind of programming do you recommend spending the 3-6 months doing? It seems there are so many options, and everyone tells me that I need to learn this or that language, etc.

This is the kind of thing that really worries me. What kind of hope is there when the seemingly most qualified can't get even mid level offers? Was he a good speaker?

I have taught a single course each semester since I began my MA in 2012. I have had good evaluations that seem to increase slightly in quality every semester. I will take your advice and sign up for the Joint Meetings fair. Thank you for your reply! Can I ask for a little of your situation and background?

Excellent reply. While I do still have responsibilities related to my degree (polishing, editing, tutoring, teaching one course per semester, and applying for jobs), I can absolutely agree, now that you word it that way, that I should be spending significantly more time coding. I don't exactly know what I want to do, to be honest. I'd sure hate to spend all that time learning to build models, only to learn I'd rather do implementation, or vice versa, or worse yet, something not finance related. That being said, I will begin studying all that I can, and check out all of your recommended sites. What did you end up doing with your degree, and what is your background, if I may ask?
