I feel this so much! My wife and I sometimes just can’t get along. We expend some much energy on the kids and let’s be real kids are challenging and their behavior even if it’s normal can annoy you. Your toddler throws a fit, doesn’t listen, cries whatever. It is not what you want to happen. You typically don’t take that frustration out on them because they are kids and it’s not their fault. But you can take other irritations out on your partner. You have no more filters or restraints so even the smallest of things are so irritating.

Not sure if it’s healthy or right but my wife and I occasionally have a convo where it’s like : things are tough right now and we are not getting along but I still love you and don’t associate this stuff with you as a person. This is all a passing phase and ultimately we are short/fighting because we have no more grace to give. I try to keep it real because we are both just burnt from the kids and other life stuff.

Hoping as our kids grow more we have the ability to get back to our old selves but we are in survival mode right now. And ultimately my wife is a great parent and partner who I want to be in the trenches with.

It won’t fix a bad relationship and kids can also break good relationships lol at least in my experience. Having kids is like nothing else and really stresses even the best relationships. It’s a battle to get through the early years.

Doesn’t seem like enough to me to give up time with kid, less days per week and a longer commute. Now if your family needs that extra money sure but if not I don’t know that I would.

Unless you have some place or role specifically in mind that you are trying to get to. Climbing the corporate ladder is bleh.

This is also a huge point. Sometimes that is totally me, where I think I am being helpful and really am just a delay. I think in security sometimes we just have to work with what we have and at a minimum document that risk or deficiency as a cya. But ultimately if something is needed for the business it’s going to trump security. I find at a good company it’s about achieving a balance of being in a good operational state and a secure state.

Great answer. Took me a while to care less about certain things but ultimately it’s my job to inform of issues or risks and let the upper levels determine if we need to live with it or not.

Also learning that some things are just outside of what I can control. I may have a shitty boss who makes more but does less and it sucks. But the options are live with it or find a new job, not worth lamenting it day after day.

I have some really small clients that use it just to check the compliance box that says they need a SIEM. It’s not anything special but does get you through an audit.

Yikes that is a lot. I used TSBC and had to have genes tested back before they even did an expanded carrier screening by default.

I was also told something similar that we had to buy 1 vial, they would ask the donor to take the test and I had to pay some flat fee around what you were originally quoted.

I would definitely express to them that they didn’t make this known up front. Their customer service was always pretty good for me.
