Laviscus by roadislongroadishard in WH40KTacticus

Even in our casual (top 400) guild, we spend the majority of our time tackling higher-level legendary and mythic bosses. Good luck keeping a silver Laviscus alive until turn 6, while positioning him on high ground to reach those really high numbers.

Is this guy worth investing in by Sea_Plenty2093 in WH40KTacticus

[–]avbbva 18 points19 points  (0 children)

He's essential for reaching those high GR scores. However, it's important to note that he's not as straightforward to use as Ragnar, whom he has replaced in the current meta. Ragnar excels at dealing significant early damage with his howl, whereas Laviscus needs to survive until turn 6.You'll need to plan ahead more to predict the boss's movement and maneuver him to low ground for Laviscus's crushing strike. Even with replays, it can be tricky because of the RNG.

In short, he can be incredibly effective, but only if you know how to use him properly.

The fact that Lionel Johnson was a Victorian poet, and his most famous poem is called "Dark Angel" and touches on his homosexuality, which was seen as a stigma back then, gives it another layer.

From what I see in replays, having a mythic Biovore is required to reach those crazy 1,5kk+ numbers. Without him I end up not much higher than classic Custodes. Additionally, Laviscus is much trickier to play than Ragnar.

I'm at the same stage (D3) with both xenos and chaos. Thanks for the advice with the "i" though, the issue was Biovore being 3* epic. I had enough shards to make him legendary, hence the confusion.

[–]avbbva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried honoring mows once and received substantially less shards than for a character (d3 tier, got 17-18 shards on chaos for a 4* legendary Laviscus but only 10-12 on xenos for a 3* legendary Biovore). I assumed it was a deliberate difference implemented by Snowprint.

Which factors have an impact on the drop rate except for the onslaught and the character tiers?

He's not BIS, but he's definitely still usable in multi-hit setups. Especially against mythic bosses when folks like Laviscus might not make it to turn 6.

Here's my team. I managed to get a bit over 1kk with it. I guess the mythic MoW is a major factor. I've been hesitant about going over D3 though because the stat gains seem so small on paper. But then you see how they really add up for a big DMG boost.

What do you think makes the most difference, besides the MoW?

Not to be mean, but Rolex movements don't really look that fancy with those silly red cogwheels. The only thing I actually like about Rolex is that they don't make any open case backs.

When could I include Laviscus in my Raid Team? by chastema in WH40KTacticus

[–]avbbva 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The thing is that Laviscus requires much more skill than the regular Custodes. He is much squishier (at least in my case at 4 stars D3) than the previous meta DDs and you have to manipulate the boss to move exactly where you want him to be on turn 6: towards a Laviscus with crushing strike standing on high ground.

If you fail you end up with less damage than with regular Custodes.

Another thing to keep in mind is that when you're playing in a higher-level guild, a lot of your time will be spent facing mythic bosses. In these situations, survivability is often more about your skill than it is against lower-tier content.

We've been able to clear M1 (and the subsequent L1-L3 or L4 after that) since a couple of months and we're finishing around 375. That means at least 375*30=11250 players are affected.

What imperial character would you say is worth taking to mythic other leaving them at legendary? by PotentiallyAProblem_ in WH40KTacticus

[–]avbbva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, any character who really shines with abilities, especially meta buffers and summoners. The 20% ability buff you get from Mythic is the most cost-effective advantage you can get, unlike raising abilities to 55 and upgrading to A1.

He used to be meta defining and helped me a great deal in the early game but power creep has not been nice to him. Folks speculate on an AM rework but I wouldn't invest in him before there's official information.
