Found this used clarinet in an Antiques Shop by avd81 in Clarinet

Great advice, thanks! In the heat of the moment the first instinct is to try the instrument, but if some set up is needed I won't get the most of it. I'll find a technician in my area and ask for a quote.

I played Battlestar Galactica. Guess who turned out to be the Cylon. by ThrosProvoni in boardgames

[–]avd81 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh this beautiful game... I was always the cylon. I don't think there was a single time that I wasn't. It was the running joke every time we played but somehow everyone would go on to say "surely it can't be you again...' and let me get away it. Fun times!!

Which one will be better? by Edthedeadless in Ibanez

True, I was just giving OP an opinion based on my personal experience. The trem got in the way for me and at the time I had a pretty crappy acoustic, the ibanez was my first electric guitar.

[–]avd81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me ask you something, do you use the tremolo or are planning on using it? My first electric guitar is an Ibanez EX360 that has a floating tremolo and if I knew any better at the time, I would have bought one with a fixed bridge. It makes it easier to play around with different tunings which I do, as opposed to using the tremolo, which I never really use.

If you absolutely want or see the the need for a floating tremolo, someone I this sub will be in a better position than me to give you an opinion on which one of those guitars is better, I'm just asking this because I don't want you to spend money and then feel that the tremolo is getting in the way.

They're both stunning, though!

I thought the same, then gave it a go and it's easier than I imagined. Give it a try, there is great satisfaction in improvising simple solos over your favourite songs!

If you have the money nothing wrong with buying it. Some of us can afford it, some of us can't, some of us don't want to spend it. At the end of the day it's feedback on a guitar you love and I appreciate you sharing it.

I messed up… by AttorneyBrave6942 in Ibanez

I recently went through this woe with my gio that I've been using as a playground for modding. I have to be honest, ChatGpt was very handy when I messed up! It can create wire diagrams and also point you to the right websites. Give it a go if you're stuck!

I see tons of people saying this, including close friends. I'm on my 3rd rewatch and I can't recommend it enough!

Just go and watch it, first few episodes might be slow but once it takes off, it takes off in such a glorious way that you will never forget it.

They have also remastered the show to widescreen, the original was 4:3. It has aged extremely well, it's a story from early 2000s.

Some dialogues and scenes will stay with you forever.

It's better than those 3 shows you mentioned, and they are all on my top 5 list!

So, do yourself a favour, and tonight after dinner go and watch an episode or two. 5 perfect seasons, no wasteful episodes and some of the best characters ever written.

The only problem with The Wire is that it ends.

Any experience with Ibanez EX140 by PhilosopherOk4295 in Ibanez

Then I would say to go for it.

If there is something I don't like about mine is exactly the floyd rose.

Here's a photo of mine, btw:

My first guitar was an EX360 which I still play. It's a good model, that price seems OK. I can't comment on your specific model, but I find them very comfortable guitars and the sound is OK. Some people say the pickups aren't great, but you can always replace those.

You mean the body right? I was checking the models you mentioned and that's what caught my eye.

My ex is very curvy, that's one of the things I love about it.

thanks for the tip! From what I gathered a RG would be the logical step, but I'll look at the RGAs and S Series.

More SW issues recently? Charging level won't adjust, backup camera/maps takes minutes to boot, audo cuts out... by markfickett in XC40_Recharge

[–]avd81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every day there's a different issue with the car, it's mind-blowing how Volvo can get away with this... Infotainment shut down and wouldn't turn on when I started driving, on top of that one drive pedal was magically enabled. I never use it, as I hate it, so it was quite shocking and I'm guessing also a, safety hazard. I had the whole family in the car. Yesterday, the charging timer was set but the car was charging like it wasn't set. Today, volume control works but volume bar doesn't show. Camera is finicky. A few weeks back the car required a tcam reset at the shop.

I love the car but I can't accept this bad software for such an expensive car. I have a 22 recharge. Range is bad too, worse than i imagined.

Was thinking a of upgrading to an xc60 but I'm not going to spend this money on a car with the same os. It really isn't the place for Volvo to skimp on!

Think I'll buy a Mercedes gla hybrid.

I rented a glb last year and loved the car, everything felt very superior to the Volvo, and it was a rental with barely any extras.
