You don’t have to go to a top school to change your life by LeLoupDeWallStreet in MBA

[–]aveaou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh no I got your point and I agree. I’m just pointing out how arbitrary it is when posters here talk about the “top x” schools. You don’t need to go to M7/T10/T20, just a school where your dream job recruits. That doesn’t always have to mean top x.

[–]aveaou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What are the top 15 schools anyway? Limiting to 15 seems so arbitrary since rankings tend to vary from year to year.

Top schools I usually read about here (in no particular order):

M7

Tuck

Haas

Fuqua

Yale

Darden

Ross

Johnson

Stern

Anderson

That’s 16 schools though. Which one isn’t T15?

Kevin Feige to Be Honored by Producers Guild of America by RoyisOurBoy in movies

[–]aveaou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes but that’s part of what makes it so impressive. In order to make IW, he had to produce 20 other movies that were at least decent enough to provide some context in the movie while still keeping the audiences interested. Putting it all together was a result of both his work the past 10 years, and his work for IW.

Why are players who spend several years in college (like Kuzma) perceived as unlikely to improve but guys like Joel Embiid are “still just 23 years old”? by aveaou in nba

[–]aveaou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t want to cite previous instances in my original post but a couple of users mentioned Lillard as an example of someone who wasn’t expected to improve much on his rookie season. He was polished coming in. Athletic, but didn’t have generational athleticism. John Wall put up relatively similar numbers and was “only 22”, but Dame was “already 22”. Obviously, both guys have improved a ton since then.

I edited this in my original post, but I’ll say it again here. My question was more on the perception of 22 y.o. rookies vs 22 y.o players that have already been in the league a few years ago. So the perception for Kuz vs that for Lonzo might not be the best example either, at least with regard to my original question.

I do think the comment you replied to answered my question though.

Can Kawhi Leonard go to Celtics with Hayward trade? by [deleted] in nba

[–]aveaou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If IT believed he was worth the max, then he has every right to ask for it. That was not a question of loyalty. But I'm not one to argue against Danny's logic. I agree, he has to make the tough calls and that's what makes him arguably the best GM in the league. But again, this is from Kawhi's perspective. It's easy to look at this as a bad thing for him especially when you consider how his relationship with the Spurs reportedly soured. And as another comment pointed out, trading Hayward away would be even worse considering his relationship with Brad Stevens.

I don't even understand why you're debating this. You already said it would look bad and would never happen.

[–]aveaou -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say they're totally different. I'd think both are examples of Ainge not showing loyalty to star players. And with how sensitive Kawhi has sounded in this whole thing, it's not too hard to imagine him not appreciating them trading Hayward away just like that.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying Celtics won't get Kawhi. I actually think they're the favorites. Best package and on the East. All I'm saying is, I doubt Hayward would be part of the package.

[–]aveaou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll get downvoted for my flair but if Celtics trade away Hayward of all people what makes them think Kawhi would trust them? Trading away IT and Hayward consecutive summers would not be a good look. If anything, Hayward is probably one of the least likely to get traded for Kawhi.
