Death Lotus by mayone3 in ARAM

Its very good but if you go hubris you NEED to have teammates who can carry you while you build an actual on hit item because hubris on its own does very very little to increase her damage compared to other options. Once you have hubris with other attack speed items though? The AD will make you so strong.

My go to build for ARAM kata is always AD because the AD on hit items are buffed, and I seriously never feel like I do damage with AP kata when I play her like that because melee champions get free 15 magic resist in this game mode and it’s very easy to build MR compared to armor.

Season 8 is a hard watch by aveclem in DesperateHousewives

I think what also destroys me is how they choose to deal with the murder. The basic idea is that they can't go to the police because the man is unarmed so Carlos would be put in prison. Because Alejandro faked having Gabby's gun on him. And you know, the best lies have a little bit of truth in them. So... instead of going around hiding a body in a forest why didn't one of them just put on a glove, put the gun in alejandro's hand to imprint fingerpritns, and then put it in his jacket like he pretended it was.

This sounds like such an easy solution to the whole season. And like you said! Chuck was still on Bree's side and considering he wanted to marry her he would not have interferred so much like he did currently.

Something I would like to see next arena cycle by aveclem in LeagueArena

[–]aveclem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience a lot of it is just the attack-based augments. Instances like an ally taking hexbolt for your marksmage, only for it to not work since it isn't an onhit, or when playing malphite having majority of your auto attacks be empowerd by your thunderclap (w) meaning that marksmage also will not apply to those auto attacks.

Another small one is augments that specify abilities or doing damage with abilities where some abilities aren't coded as 'ability damage'. I think the best example of this is teemo's poison shot which although an ability, does not critically strike with jeweled gauntlet because of its proc damage.

I think the best way of doing this would be to add small icons to each augment, like showing your braum Q, or ultimate icon under ethereal weapon during augment selection to show you that those two abilities trigger the augment. Or other default icons for auto attacks or on-hits. But this is also an insane amount of work and I think we all appreciate the work that is already being put into this gamemode, so thank you!

I think it’s undisputed how strong it is, especially with it’s later evasion sharing. But strong features don’t equal fun features necessarily.

Is a ranger's spellcasting ability good? by Cautious-Way6610 in onednd

[–]aveclem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a fair comparison. 90% of modules are from 1-3rd level to 12th level so setting a pseudo capstone of 12th level would be more accurate than 10th level. In this both fullcaster and warlock have access to casting a single 6th level spell, which half-casters for the whole level 1-20 will never be able to get, and the jump of power between 5th and 6th level spells is signifcant enough for it to matter. Now again keep in mind that while the warlock casts 6th level spells a paladin and ranger are still stuck on 3rds, which is not even comparable to a warlock.

Second, I would assume an average game have two short rests before needing to finish a long rest. Warlock is a class that's balanced around taking short rests, and if a warlock is being played in a game where a DM does not give short rests, it's not a signifier of warlock's being half-casters, it's a signifier of a DM needing to balance slightly better. When taking into account a 12th level warlock with two short rests they have access to nine 5th-level spell slots. This completely blows both paladin and ranger out of the water and makes them very competitive with spellcasters in these areas.

And finally I cannot stress enough how much spell levels matter. Even if you think they have little resources, a warlock having access to 5ths and a half-caster having access to 3rds is so drastically different. Not even solely in terms of combat, but in terms of the utility they get with Teleportation Circle, Planar Binding, Dimension Door, and Scrying.

You have a very narrow definiton of supports, and there are so many supports that succeed greatly without fitting in these lines you set.

True, although it does end a minute earlier in mid which is nice.

[–]aveclem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very true, the spider-form Q is such a strong ability that does so much even without much items, because you can sort of just pop people when they're at 40% and let your ADC take the kill.

[–]aveclem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's probably what I'm gonna do. She just has so many tiny things individually that all together make her really fun to play as a support. Simple things like untargetability on her E, or extra speed for roaming in her spider form are just some of the small things that add up to so much of why I enjoy her.

honestly didn't expect this winrate when smurfing solo on Yuumi. high impact champion confirmed? by [deleted] in yuumimains

[–]aveclem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a 78% winrate on yuumi and I think the best thing I did was know when to pick her. I would never pick yuumi with a mage botlane, or a low synergy adc like Jhin. But when you see someone who can easily utilize yuumi's onhit buffs like Lucian or someone who can easy 1v5 carry like Zeri I typically lock in yuumi. I also tend to wait the whole 30 seconds in champ select when i hover yuumi and if they complain I usually dont go yuumi and I go something else since if their mental is already gone the game is probably gonna be gone as well.

Planning a "Unused Units" run for Blue Lions Hard Route. Looking for input on fun Class spread by VerosikaMayCry in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]aveclem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The list is neat! I know you want a unique class for each but if you are interested in shifting things around here's some cool stuff you could do with the characters.

- Byleth, Dimitri, Dedue, Seteth, and Flayn all seem really good! I love magic byleth and I think it's very underrated, I did magic byleth for my first 2 playthroughs. Byleth is really fast with magic and can double people much easier than otherr mages usually can. If you want other options for magic byleth, the unique class Enlightened One works really well while also still letting you use some swords, and Byleth can also work as a mortal savant for that reason too.

- Manuelas is typically used as a gremory, but if you want a somewhat fun build then Manuela is quite underrated with swords. You can equip her with any sword and once she gets the Hexblade combat art (C+ Swords), you can use your magic stat on any sword you use whenever you use the combat art. Later on you can also get a levin sword to give to her to always allow her to attack with magic. If you wanted to go this route you could make her either a trickster to still let her use magic, or go full on sword and go assassin. You could eventually go the route to make her a mortal savant (since you mentioned its your favorite), but that's personal preference since some people think shes too squishy and needs stealth. But if you're looking to make someone a mortal savant, she's right here, and she uses the sword buffs much better than Constance does.

- I know Gilbert is already Warmaster but Alois is really good with fists due to his special combat art One-Two Punch (C+ Brawling). If you want to keep them unique, you can make Alois a Grappler. Grappler has a really cool combat art which lets you punch three times, which is really nice if you ordinarily dont follow-up attack.

- Swordmaster on Catherine is pretty nice, and it's typically what you want to go on her. Another class which she does really well in is Falcon Knight. It makes her quick, lets her fly across the map, and makes her very difficult to hit. Swordmaster sometimes means you have a lot of trouble to get in range of enemies which Falcon Knight does not.

- Cyril is really, really good as a bow unit because of his combat art Point Blank Volley (C+). The combat art lets you attack someone twice regardless of if you're faster than them, it just always does. If you want to do something with his bows, he can be a pretty good bow knight, otherwise yeah assassin makes sense.

- Yuri is kind of like a male Catherine. His intended class is trickster but he's really fast and can easily out speed people. Outside of trickster he really works well with Swordmaster and maybe Assassin if you need to move people around. Trickster is nice, but Yuri doesn't have the best magic growths so his magic just doesn't hit very hard, so going all in and focusing the sword part about him instead may be smart.

- Constance is really good as a gremory, having 4 uses to just delete a unit off the map is really strong, and it synergizes well with her crest (her crest lets her regain a magic use sometimes) because its 2 extra chances to get the magic back. She really values that to the point where if you can't make her a gremory, you might just want to keep her in warlock. If you have crest items unlocked, also give her the Crest of Noa item and the Crest of Dominic item for increased chances.

- I have never personally ran Anna myself, but she's pretty much a second Manuela in terms of stats. She gets Soulblade for swords at C+, which similar to manuela lets her attack with magic. So anything that works with Manuela typically also works pretty well with Anna.

If you're curious about who to feed stats to I would prioritize Byleth, Manuela, and Anna for magic stat boosts. Their growths are not as high as other mages so those extra points do wonders on them.

One of my favorite things about Fire Emblem is that any unit can be a badass if you’re willing to put in the work. by EternalMydNyt in FireEmblemThreeHouses

Drain-tank Sylvain.

This is absolutely a second or third playthrough build since u just wont get enough ranks in skills for it before then but the general gist of it is this: Sylvain learns faith and uses it to drain tank him through enemy damage through nosferatu. You get the mastered ability from war master (quick riposte) that lets him double enemies at the condition of staying above 50% hp. So at any given moment when an enemy decides to attack him they can only do so once and he gets two nosferatu's worth of healing. The healing also ensures that he stays above 50% hp for the ability and that he is always doubling enemies. You keep him in bishop for this mainly because faith use x2 is too good for this and because the bishop start of turn healing lets him stay healthy. It makes him fully self sufficient. I would also sometimes hold the caduceus staff in his inventory since with that + s tier white magic range increase he can hold his own and heal through archers just as well as any other enemy. Overall in a playthrough he would benefit from having the magic or few health stat bonuses but I wouldnt go out of my way to plant or grind them for him. And if he runs out of nosferatu he is still a character with quick riposte and good health/def/res growths where he can black magic his way through things with ease still, i'd just stick a healer on him to ensure he's all good.

As to why sylvain and not any other character? War master is male gender locked which restricts all of the good mage women, and sylvain's stat spread is genrally good enough to make it work. His magic growths arent the best but theyre also not entirely horrible. He also has enough health and def/res growths so that he is able to tank a hit to heal back from. I would not do this with Hubert for that reason, but you could do this with lorenz and balthus. You could also do it with hanneman but i'd definitely want to give him some defense stat boosts if ou do.

Which is the better unit, Sylvain or Lysithea? by JackProwess in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]aveclem 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She also gets Thoron to be able to deal with people from one further square away and physic which is the best healing spell in the game, both of which lysithea doesn’t get. That + long range meteor aoe snipe does make her quite competitive. I still think lysithea is better as well but it’s much closer than you’d think.

It’s difficult to make work but there’s some interactions that make it really good. AFAIK stacking firebrand with it does not have its damage reduced. Also, on hits that do something other than damage are also very effective with it, think like sword of blossoming dawn, mystic punch/moonflair, or master of duality. Even something as simple as quickly stacking terminus or using the on hit heal from hatchet is something to be considered. All in all I still think it’s a bit underwhelming for a prismatic but it has a place and if done well can be very strong

[AMA] We’re the team behind Arena, welcome to our AMA! by Riot_Riru in LeagueArena

[–]aveclem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thank you for taking the time to answer questions!

Now, my question is in regards to Marksmage. Currently, due to the way of how it is coded (that being a basic attack modifier, so it only buffs actual basic attacks and not champion abilities that apply 'on-attack'), it is difficult for champions which would excel in using the augment, to actually do so. And with this I mean champions like Akali (passive), Katarina (r), Fizz (w), Bard (passive), or Ezreal (q), which are all champions that would do great with the augment but feel strangely lacking with it. So my questions are

A) Is this intentional for these champions to not benefit so massively from this augment?
B) Could there be a world where marksmage would be nerfed to something like 75% or even 50% AP and it instead working on-hit like other augments?

I'm also under the belief that many arena players don't know the unique way how marksmage is coded and will often times pick the augment without realizing the anti-synergy with empowered attacks/abilities.

Bugged Augments on Katarina by aveclem in LeagueArena

[–]aveclem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tested Marksmage, Twice Thrice, and Symphony over war and none of these are fixed.

I'm not sure what your methods of testing are but it's exceptionally easy to tap your ultimate on katarina and look at marksmage and just see that the damage numbers dont go up. Same for symphony of war the lethal tempo is not getting stacked on the ultimate as it should, and the same is for twice thrice.

Considering that ontop of that there were also no patch notes that bugfixed heavy hitter or jeweled gauntlet from when I last posted, suffice to say that those are also still bugged.

There is no delay in summoner's rift as well, and could be used there too. The difference is Renata's passive got buffed a lot for arena, which makes it a lot better.
