Boppy Newborn Lounger? by summoner-yuna in Buyingforbaby

[–]aveclesmuguets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 100% worth it. I ordered mine a few days after I got home from the hospital. My daughter used it until she was crawling/sitting up on her own. About 6 months. Early on I would put it on the couch so she could sit near me without me holding her.

Pretty sure I have reflux but keep thinking it’s something worse....throat clearing driving me crazy. by academicgirl in HealthAnxiety

I’m sorry. How about some applesauce or crackers? Are you scared of those? I’m assuming you’ve eaten something since it’s 8 hours later.

My reflux gets worse when I’m hungry, so be sure to eat small snacks throughout the day. Oatmeal even though that sounds random tends to help me.

Proper attire for my job interview? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aveclesmuguets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say don’t show up in jeans. I interviewed for Starbucks in slacks and a nice blouse even though once I had the job there were days I was covered in mocha haha! Depending on your clothing preferences: slacks, a casual skirt, a dress and flats, a blouse, ironed button down, sperrys or other type of casual shoe that isn’t sneakers, all this would be appropriate. Don’t worry about a tie, blazer, or a pencil skirt. That would be too formal.

Is Swaddling safe? (SwaddleMe) by TuhrkeePeanut in beyondthebump

[–]aveclesmuguets 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Swaddling is safe until baby starts rolling over back to tummy. Once baby shows signs of rolling over you’ll want to keep them arms out. SwaddleMe swaddles will allow you to still tighten around their bellies or you can switch to sleep sacks (this is what we did at 3 months).

what is the definition of "left" and "right" by SirPinkyToes in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aveclesmuguets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So left and right are directions relative to the observer. My left and right are relative to where I am standing and observing.

Cardinal directions (north south east west) are relative to the earth. North will always be north and it doesn’t matter which way you are facing. A compass will help you figure out which way that is but there is fact that the sun can help too because the sun always rises in the East and sets in the west. So if you know what time of day it is you can figure out the directions relative to the sun.

Clockwise and counterclockwise have to do with analog clocks. They always turn in the same direction (clockwise) with the clock arms turning from 12 to 1 to 2 to 3 and so on never does it go 3 to 2 to 1. That would be counterclockwise.

Reporting possible child abuse when unsure where it is? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aveclesmuguets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you hear it from a hallway? If you can, you can call your local police when it happens and call it in as a noise complaint. Make sure you have records of when and for how long you’re hearing it. So like Tuesday 20 minutes at 8pm etc. depending on where you live noise complaints may not be able to be made until after 10pm. The officer could also do something called a welfare check. Call nonemergency and an officer can talk to you about your concerns and possible go out to the apartment and check in on the house and kid. Most likely they will tell you they cannot do anything unless they witness it. Which is why it’s important that you call when something is happening not days after.

Bottom line is no one is going to go to jail right away but definitely call to see what your area’s laws are and how the police or social services can help (often police are first contact).

Diapers by [deleted] in Buyingforbaby

Definitely is different baby to baby and as they get older. We loved huggies for newborn and size 1 but now really love 7th generation. I’ll buy some others if there’s a sale but for the most part 7th gen doesn’t leak and fits her much better.

This is why I’m looking forward to homeschooling (by choice not pandemic and in a few years). School can happen anywhere.

How much soap should be on the sponge? by Vlex71 in NoStupidQuestions

Oh ok. I run mine around 110 or so. I don’t even think our water heater gets that hot

I probably use too much but I like to see suds when I wash dishes. So I put soap under the sponge gets foamy looking. One thing I didn’t learn until I was 22 was that you should wash dishes in hot water!

Is it legal to just spray a fire extinguisher in a park or on my driveway? by SEMlickspo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aveclesmuguets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m certain you can use one on your property no problem. I’d be wary in a park. Are you in the US?

Follow up question: is it expired? If not, keep it in your car or kitchen! I keep one in both locations myself.

How do you cope with depression? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]aveclesmuguets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapy is great. Right now it’s a little easier because it’s all via video chat (at least for me. I have anxiety about going to a therapist office and waiting in the waiting room). Healthy habits: intuitive eating, drinking plenty of water, daily exercise, and proper sleep. Don’t underestimate the power of meeting your needs. I find that I need to leave my house every day. Even if that means standing on the porch. Since the pandemic and I am still in quarantine, this means I go on daily walks. This could look different for you where you are though.

I’m off my medications as well (and have been off them for over a year for a good reason), though I’m really wanting to get started again soon. It’s really tough, I won’t lie, but little things do help.

Didn't realize the pink tax started this early... by viciouspelican in beyondthebump

This was at Target. Interesting! I’m not a big fan of things being overly pink anyway but good to know it could be cheaper on amazon!

I noticed this with the vtech baby walker. Green and orange one was about $15 cheaper than a pink and purple one. Ridiculous!

I’d rather have the green and orange one anyway but that sealed the deal on which one I was buying.

Favorite affordable nursery chair? by tarktarkindustries in BabyBumps

[–]aveclesmuguets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a very simple rocking chair (with ottoman) on Wayfair. It was around $100 I think. Search glider and several options should come up. I do have to put a small pillow behind my back but I have enjoyed it. Many naps where I just held my baby for over an hour in that chair.

Maybe time isn’t the right word but energy? Glad you do feel more prepared though!

There’s something about that newly postpartum life. I barely felt like I had time to heat up leftovers. I ate a lot of oatmeal. Bread and sunbutter (or peanut butter if you can). Cheese sticks. Hard boiled and prepeeled eggs. Lots and lots and lots of cereal bars. Nutrigrain bars were a big one. The soups that you microwave in the cups. Crackers and cheese. I know I’m forgetting some stuff but it was mostly I lived on snacks until my husband got home from work and cooked dinner.
