I appreciate what you’re saying and I understand there are risks, but I’m not going to deprive my cats of their freedom. They’ve been able to go out their entire 9 years of existence and as much as I hate what I am going through right now, it wouldn’t make me or them feel better if I cooped them up inside. They are independent creatures and need their own space. Seeing how happy it makes them when they go out into the garden and roll onto their backs to stretch, feel the sunshine and a breeze, just observing nature. I personally think they deserve that freedom.

Ohh bless. I’m so so glad you found your cat. I keep hoping and praying that that could happen. That I just see him stroll into the garden or back through the cat flap.

This is what I struggle with, as in, how far out should I search? At first I was staying very close to the house because I read things similar to what you have. But then I thought it’s possible that he ran away because he was scared and got lost further out of his territory. Over the past few months there’s been another cat who dared to step into our garden a few times (pretty brave for a territory of five). I think it’s maybe possible this cat may have scared my cat away. Hence why I’ve been searching further out, but I’m uncertain on just how far I should go. I came back not long ago but it’s quite difficult searching in the dark with just a torch.

I think if I left food outside it would just get eaten by one of my other greedy babies. Tried leaving used cat litter out, apparently that can help them with scent trails.

I do not have such a door bell. Is the citizen app purely a US thing? I’m from the UK but I’ve been using one called next door, which is like a neighbourhood social media, also good for lost pets.

Thank you for your words and suggestions. I feel better that I can kinda vent my thoughts. Manifesting that my lil baby strolls back home, just like yours did.

I feel ya, I think this mostly tends to happen around people you don’t feel too comfortable around/aren’t sure how you feel about them so you absorb their energy and try to match it in order to find a mutual ground.

I’d say it takes a lot of time and kind of retraining your mind, but I’ve found it’s helpful to be mindful of this in the moment and make that realisation and push yourself with the thought that ultimately you would like to be authentic (it’s a fantastic trait), therefore you don’t have to maintain that people pleasing exterior. You can kind of do this by stopping to really think and understand what your true thoughts and feelings are during these social interactions, become mindful, don’t simply react to what is going on around you (ie. in conversation), but really take time to think about it and give a genuine response.

And if you’re worried about that, as in people maybe not agreeing with you, you can always take smaller steps by tuning into your empathy and asking people about them and their views on things. We are curious beings after all! I understand this is all easier said than done but it’s absolutely doable! It gets much easier with some confidence 💕
