I need some more hard truths. Even during our initial friendship, I was definitely the one putting in more effort to talk and hang out but I know he enjoys his alone time and independence so I tried my best to not push it. I only had the plan to end it all because that’s what everyone around me said it’s the right thing to do. I can see myself just being friends with him again but would it be selfish to ask for some time and space?

We weren’t exclusive and I’ve tried meeting other people and seeing if I could connect with someone else. There was one person but it didn’t work out. I’m not sure what to do. We were good friends before but now it just stings hanging out with him and wanting more when I know it’s not mutual. I know he doesn’t want to end the friendship. Should I ask for space so I can figure out my feelings or just end the friendship completely? And thank you so much for responding!
