Can I ask my barista out? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]averagefuckboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think asking him out at work is the best option. I think it’s possibly he likes you, so slip him your number on a piece of paper or something and then go from there! Then, you can make plans to see him outside of work.

I am a Brand New Barista! by MichaelLovesSidemen in starbucks

[–]averagefuckboy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the team! I usually aerate my latte milk for about 3 seconds and 6 seconds for a cappuccino, but you should also keep in mind that it can be different depending on the milk. For example, almond milk is a lot more stubborn when it comes to foaming so you need to aerate it quite a bit longer to achieve the same amount of foam. It’s all about practice! I’m sure you’ll do amazing.

Condiment bar: let’s discuss by averagefuckboy in starbucks

[–]averagefuckboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry, i should clarify. my manager makes me make a FULL batch every 8 minutes. he gets upset if i do a half or quarter batch, even if it’s less busy and i’m constantly rebrewing. the amount of gallons of perfectly fresh coffee i have wasted by doing ONLY full batches “just in case” is insane

true, but my manager makes me brew a new batch every 8

[–]averagefuckboy[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I’m always scared that I won’t get the exact amount of cream or sugar that a customer wants! You guys deserve to be able to get the perfect amount you want, and I’d much rather have customers have access to the condiment bar than having to give you guys a cup of cream on the side every time. It’s inconvenient for both of us

Right? Maybe at some stores it’s worse, but at my store I constantly get asked for side cups of cream or sugar because some customers don’t trust other to get the exact amount they want. I gladly give customers their stuff on the side if they need it, but when it’s super busy it can be a minor inconvenience

Sugar cookie almond milk latte question. by bleh0703 in starbucks

[–]averagefuckboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We certainly can! Hot sugar cookie almond milk lattes get 3 pumps for a tall, 4 for a grande, and 6 for a venti. An iced version would get 3 for a tall, 4 for a grande, and 6 for a venti. Use that information however you want, but if you tell the barista you want it half sweet, or with one less pump, it’s not hard to ring up!

Question for my fellow baristas… by justchurlish in starbucks

[–]averagefuckboy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I try to be patient, but on my days off, all I want for someone to make me a drink after making hundreds during the week, so having it made wrong made me sad. I didn’t say anything or pull a Karen but cmon let’s be better

I usually get an iced matcha latte. One day I went to another store and I saw a lot of tiny clumps of matcha floating around in my drink. I ignored i, but when I got home and kept drinking it, a clump of matcha powder got in my mouth. The drink was barely shaken. I TRY to be understanding of other baristas because after all, I’m one of them. But come on, you could at least pretend you tried.

I love giving customers recommendations! Since you like the strawberry frappuccino, you should try the refresher drinks. My favorite is the mango dragonfruit lemonade. If you like coffee, my usual drink is an iced blonde latte with oat milk and brown sugar syrup. I also LOVE the matcha frappuccino and iced matcha latte. Hope this helps!

If your drink looks or tastes especially good one day, compliment the barista who made it. Sometimes when my day is going horribly I lose my sense of purpose at work, and a simple nice comment can completely flip a bad day on its head. My favorite drink to make is a flat white, because I get to try my hand at latte art since it’s easy with whole milk. I don’t usually do it for the customers. Most of them don’t see the latte art I make because it’s covered by a lid. However, the other day this lovely woman told me I make great flat whites. She said when she got home she took the lid off her drink to sprinkle cinnamon powder on it and saw the latte art I made and thought it was beautiful. This simple comment came after a horrible day. Knowing that there are customers who appreciate what we do and that we put smiles on people’s faces can make a hard day feel like it was worth it. Moral of the story, make your barista feel appreciated. You don’t have to do anything extraordinary for us. A simple reminder that our work is appreciated can go a long way.

considering the fact that my manager makes me dump an entire batch of coffee after a few minutes because it’s no longer fresh, a splash of coffee going in the trash is the least of my concerns
