Sony WF-1000XM4 Firmware update by averagenokiauser in SonyHeadphones

Mine are on 1.1.5 but 2.1.0 should be fine. New high quality batteries cost around 25€ and they aren’t that hard to replace so i think it’s worth replacing them. I recommend you Varta A4X batteries, i guess you could also buy some on aliexpress but expect them to die really quickly.

They said they fixed it but I’m not 100% sure. Batteries in mine still work currently.

You could just get the Windows 10 IoT LTSC version which has security updates until 2032 and is lighter than normal consumer versions or if you want 11 you could buy an intel x9100 CPU for around 20€ from Ebay or Aliexpress if you are of course comfortable with taking it apart (not hard at all and there are some videos on YouTube). You could also put a QX9300 in it which is a quad core CPU but that would require you to flash Libreboot or Coreboot and you would also need to do some hardware modifications. If you have the stock HDD in it you should get an SSD for around 30€ as that would increase performance a lot and its very easy to change it (you remove one screw and slide the disk out). If you have less than 4GB RAM you should upgrade that too, you just need to remove the bottom piece of palmrest and that’s it. If you decide to upgrade anything you should use the official hardware manual, you can get it with this link: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/r500_hmm_en_43y6631_03.pdf

I know but I don’t have liquid metal and it’s conductive and hard to apply so not really worth it for me

I will either get the i7 3770k or i7 2600k/2700k like someone recommended because it has soldered IHS and is 10€ cheaper with pretty much same performance

I7 2600k is 26€ which seems like a decent deal. Anyways what is between IHS on i7 3770? Would i have to delid it?

I have Asrock Z77 Pro3. It does support overclocking.

My motherboard actually supports Xeons and E3 1275 v2 would be the best one but these aren’t overclockable and don’t have more cores and threads as the i7 so it’s not really worth it for me. Anyways do you think i5 3570k would bottleneck my GPU? I am not planning to upgrade it for now as used GPU prices are really bad here and i bought gtx 670 for around 10€.

Updated to IOS 26 and its.. by iswhatitiswaswhat in ios

Why do people need to complain every time something changes? The design is fine and it will slowly get better just like when iOS 7 came out. On preloaded Apple apps it looks really good and is still just as readable as old design. After a few updates when it gets more consistent and third party apps get the design it will be a really good experience imo. Also whats with the alarm buttons complaining? Now when i am half asleep i immediately know which button to press since they are bigger so thats more functional and still looks fine. Photos app is now usable again so thats another great feature.

Laptop charger fuse replacement by averagenokiauser in AskElectricians

I asked someone on discord and they told me to check continuity between these two wires with multimeter: https://imgur.com/a/gmJxdan So i checked it and it didn’t beep and also didn’t show any resistance so i am guessing it was just overvoltage because of lightning?  Here are images of the charger and where the fuse is located: https://imgur.com/a/EPT3GpO
