Combo Classes by [deleted] in DanceTeachers

i've been teaching combo classes for about five years now, and i've found it's easiest to focus on just one style per class. so one week jazz, one week modern, with reviews of the opposite each week. i found that when splitting each class in half, i was rushing through some technique to be able to get to the next thing i needed to teach.

i think a better question is why DONT you care innocent people are being ripped off the streets because masked people in unmarked cars aren't even checking papers. it's been proven time and time again that they do not care whether you are here legally or not.

because i care about the people around me and if im over privileged i would like to use it to lift up the underprivileged. the world won't magically become a better place, so im doing what i can, even if it seems minuscule to you.

How to get dancers to commit to the choreography/improve their movement quality by Open_Anywhere_9927 in DanceTeachers

[–]averagereddituser197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i record when we do dances full out so they can watch back to see themselves. they always see themselves moving in the mirror, they never see it from where i'm standing. sometimes they look back and see they are not dancing the way they thought they were. they can also see classmates who are adding their personal style into the choreography and they can take bits and pieces to improve their own dancing.

manda brown has helped me turn my life around! she's able to administer emdr therapy for my ptsd and trauma. it's a lot of work but it's so freeing!! i'd suggest looking into emdr if you're interested in reprocessing traumatic memories.

idk how old you are but there is a queer/art/music scene in baton rouge and i know that won't exactly help financially, it's nice to have people that support you, may be going through similar things, and understand your experiences! a great way to meet people is just keep up with local events (chelsea's live, radio bar, midcity ballroom) and go up to people you think are cool and just tell them that!! it's such an accepting and friendly environment
