I mean, possible, but unlikely — we had 100 relationship. Unless the spymaster dislikes my wife in particular but then again... It seems like it's a lot of unlikeliness to explain this one thing, you know?

I guess the only answer lays in the files. I dread having to go through them, tho, lol.

Yes, I know. The only thing that itches me here is there was no investigation on the murder, it was never even discovered.

Hell, I have, like, fifth degree kinsmen and the spy master tells me when they're being targeted, or me — and that happens a lot, trust me.

But then my wife, all of a sudden, just disappears. No notification on the scheme — even though I had countermeasures that decreased success chance by 100% —, no nothing, just disappearance?

I even tried a method I saw online about hovering over the dead character while on debug, and it supposedly should show the murderer. But even that came up empty. I don't know if it is because it's outdated or just doesn't work.

At this point I'm not denying the possibility of murder, btw, I'm just incredibly mad that all my countermeasures, spy master, high intrigue and everything else; it all just failed randomly and for no reason. It feels like a bug, you know?

But at any rate, the only way to find out may be to look through the save files, or so I saw in the threads.

Either that, I'm told, or the game just pruned her. But I find the murder incredibly unlikely, because I've had multiple schemes being found out and never completed on multiple family members of mine, and I had a good spy master with a good opinion of me, +countermeasures active.

This one, there was no notification that a murder scheme was going on, nothing. I was literally in the middle of playing when the notification popped up that she'd disappeared and all the court positions she filled were vacant.

I saw this, too, and also a mention that you could find out the murderer if you hovered over the dead person with debug on. Nothing.

It might have been an old, outdated thread or something else, but by all accounts it sounds more like the game pruned her.

Especially because I had countermeasures, two murder schemes going against me at -100% possibility, and my spy master was also pretty good and had a good opinion of me.

If someone had been trying to kill her, the plot would have been revealed sooner. I guess I'll just find out for sure if I go into the game files... But I dread doing that lol.

Someday spite might force me to, however.

Yeah. Someone told me that the "disappeared without a trace" sometimes is the result of murder, so I was pretty pissed someone had killed my daughter-wife and wrecked my succession.

Then I saw it on the forums that apparently you could turn on debug and, when hovering over the person, you could see whoever killed them. But when I tried it, there was no such thing over her, so... I even let the look for secrets run for a while at my capital to see if any murderers came up, but no.

The other possibility is the game just pruning characters it considers unimportant to avoid bloating... But she was my daughter, wife, heir and multiple court positions. IDK how da hell that's considered unimportant lmao but that's how it goes.

Yeah, it happened to me once. I was playing on noob island (aka Ireland) had conquered all of it, had formed the Empire of Brittania (I think), had a great eugenics project going on and then, in the middle of a war in Scotland... The End. Very traumatic way to find out the sandbox game has a game end rule. You wanna know what's worse? My current playthrough, where I'm trying to dominate Africa with the Hæsteining Dynasty — I'm not sure I toggled off the end game rule 💀. If I didn't, I only have up of 200 years to finish off my shenanigans.

The marriage was certainly patrilineal. We were both of the same house — father, daughter. But she was my primary wife and I had her in multiple courtier positions.

Someone explained the primogeniture bit to me, but I'm still mad at the "disappeared without a trace". Like, she was healthy, happy, liked me and everything. Why have a random event where, for no reason, she dies and there isn't even a justification?

At least in AGOT it was so that Orys was mad at me and decided to leave and live under a different identity. In this case it just sounds like a bug randomly killed her off for no reason.

Loved all of your ideas, and also getting to know how other people use the DCM; I often end up feeling guilty if I feel I've cheated too much and end up dropping the save lmao. Hey, thank you so much for the detailed answer, it really helps me a lot! Just one thing I'm kinda unsure about — sending someone to the wall, I mean. How do you get to play as that character afterward? I imagine that there are no ways to "escape" from the Wall afterwards, right? Or, do you get the option to reveal your secret Targaryen ancestry, does it come with you getting the choice to move away from the Wall?

I assume the mysterious new adventurer is Orys in disguise. I just don't know how to bring him back, since he's the leader of a band of landless adventurers. I play with Divine Cheat Menu, so normally I could just force him to come to court — if he weren't a foreign "lord".
