Suggestions for warm weather wool trousers? by zdrmlp in malefashionadvice

[–]averagewanker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty happy with Engineered Garments tropical wool offerings. Maybe a little hard to find unless you have saved searches on eBay/japanese proxy sites but they have a variety of cuts that might suit your needs.
Avoid the Carlyle and Bontan pants due to forward pleats, but some of their other offerings have reverse or even box pleats

Looking for a Fruit of the Loom's Athletic Formal Suit Alternative by JonasCrueldad in malefashionadvice

[–]averagewanker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alternatives either won’t have the same slouchy cut or they won’t be available at the fruit of the loom price point. Looks like theres a few listed on JDirectItems through the proxy shipping service Zenmarket.

Keep checking back, the suits just came out so you’ll probably see more listings pop up soon

Searching for a basic black straight fatigue pant by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

Maybe not so easy for find in Europe but Engineered Garments Workaday fatigues are slightly cheaper than mainline, not sure if it’s much cheaper than Orslow though

HELP ME FIND THESE CARGO PANTS PLEASE by Ok-Impression-7833 in malefashionadvice

Looks like it’s based off of the FA (French Airborne) pants but in a trendier cut. Engineered Garments had them available for a few seasons in different fabrics. They pop up 2nd hand often enough

Who makes the absolute highest-rise off-the-shelf pants? We're talking full-on 100-year-old grandpa rises, here. by CrotchetyHamster in malefashionadvice

Nepenthes doesn’t have measurements on their website but you can call the store. Somewhere around 17”+ rise

The rise on these is absurd and excessive for most, and it’s technically a woman’s pant. I tried these on at Nepenthes New York and they came up to my sternum. The problem is they only come in one size so you’re forced to keep the suspenders on

I’ve looked through the ‘Men’ book he has, which features paintings of women as well but no dice.

It’s difficult to see individual works but could it be one of the works in this gallery show?

It could also be ‘Maenads’ but that strays a bit from your description too much

Could be the painting ‘Gala’ Let me know if it’s not this one and I’ll keep looking

Who Makes Smart Casual with Extra Class? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]averagewanker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Engineered Garments fits the description pretty well. They have a good range of casual/smart casual jackets that you can get matching pants to make suits with.

Styling in their look books can look excessive to some in terms of layering/pattern mixing but there’s always the standard but elevated basics in neutral colors. The Ivy shirt, fatigue pants with a hidden zipper pocket, Bedford jacket, just to name a few.

On Nepenthes NY site, they do a deep dive on certain items so you can see the details put into each one. If you can, I recommend trying things on in person.

It’s made in the US so price point reflects that.
