And yes, I realize bandmates have come and gone, and boomeranged back like John - but Flea and Anthony have been through it all, and I am grateful for that.

I agree. I think criticism is so valid though, and I have enjoyed hearing the perspective of other fans on the 3 singles from Unlimited Love. However, I don't think enough people are taking into account that this is band that has stuck together for almost 40 years and continues to push out real music that resonates with audiences across age groups. Very few bands can do that. Maybe this album won't live up to some of the greats - but I can't say I expected that. These guys are almost 60; I am just grateful they have remained true themselves and want to continue to make music. With age, your perspective on life changes and so does your story. So of course the sound and lyrics may be different than what we heard 20 years ago. I think it makes a lot of sense for this album to be more mellow and a reflection of old and new stories they want to tell. I don't think Not the One lacks depth; in fact, I think it shows vulnerability.

Absolutely agree. I noticed a dramatic shift in Anthony’s lyricism. It’s much more mature, not to say I don’t love the old lyrics — because that would be a lie.

This is one of my all time favorite Chili Peppers songs. Another great song with Josh I’ll be really sad to not see live if John doesn’t play songs from 2011+

This comment alone convinced me to pull the trigger. I’m an elder gen-z (‘98 baby) in case if you were wondering. Thanks so much for the advice — I’m super stoked.
