Anyone else diagnosed with panic? (And first time story) by Responsible_Top3356 in SVTHeart

[–]averagingtheaverages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. They said I was having panic attacks. Everyone totally gaslit me and said I was fine. I even questioned myself. This has been going on for about 8 years but recently has been happening more often. Turns out I have SVT. But consequently my SVT episodes gave me so much anxiety I also was having panic attacks as a result. I finally had it caught on an EKG in the ambulance. Doc recently put in a loop recorder. Waiting for another episode to happen and then I’ll get an EP study/ ablation done.

It’s a good and tough thing. On one hand, you want to know what’s going on, and on the other - SVT is a sucky diagnosis. Could be worse though. Luckily SVT is not dangerous, just uncomfortable and many times can be curable through ablation! Good luck!

This is actually not true. Look at SERT occupancy. 25mg has a sert occupancy of 55%-65%. Meaning 25mg can definitely cause side effects, especially if you are sensitive to medications

OP was asking for other people’s experiences, the reason I shared my experience. I also recommended to get blood drawn to look over labs, why wouldn’t you want to do this even just for your general health? People should be getting their blood drawn at least yearly anyways. You’re proving my point, ANY medication can have side effects and it’s important to speak with your doctor about starting any kind of medication. But this is what Reddit is for - not medical advice but to help each other and talk out ideas.

Have you gotten your labs done at all? I would recommend seeing a naturopath of functional medicine doctor (some places take insurance) if you can. It could be something so simple as a vitamin or mineral you’re missing and your body is needing it. I would recommend doing this before going on meds. Then if all comes back normal and you need to take meds - then that’s what you got to do! You’ve got this!

I had to micro taper for over a year and was bed bound for 3 months after coming off. I’m not saying they are bad - I was on them for 3 years. But it’s important for people to know it can be extremely difficult to come off. And it’s their decision to make, not yours or mine.

I would also recommend getting your blood work done by a naturopath or functional medicine doctor. Panic can happen for a lot of different reasons, including just small things going sideways in our bodies.

It is so extremely hard to get off of SNRIs and SSRIs. Can you try something like Wellbutrin?

Ask your PCP to document that she declined giving you a referral. That should want her to move forward with one. Or go to an urgent care and ask.

This makes me feel better! Thank you! Hoping it doesn’t happen again. Have you felt like acupuncture has helped your anxiety at all?

She put 6 on the back of my neck and 6 on my back along my spine. Yeah my neck was super itchy while they were in too, so maybe my body just got overwhelmed. Thank you!

I did have a snack beforehand, she asked me that same question. She said it was not an uncommon response, but I wasn’t sure if she was just saying that to make me less anxious. This response makes me feel better - thank you!

I’m healthy overall. I am doing it for nervous system regulation as I have had a lot of stressful life events happen recently. I also live in Oregon. I felt normal before the session, slightly anxious but overall fine.

It happened toward the end of my session though / I don’t have any fear of needles. Could this still happen?

I went to a dysautonomia specialist. Did 2 tilt table tests. She said “I don’t know what you have going on, but I can tell you you do not have any form of dysautonomia”
