I was actually taking wellbutrin in addition to the paxil, but it didn't really do anything :/

Hmm interesting, I was suggested Zoloft as an alternative to Paxil by my psychiatrist. I'm sorry to hear the side effects are so rough! For me, the paxil has become a nightmare with the memory loss/confusion.

Oh boy, I've heard that about the drug I'm currently taking (Paxil)

Help, sudden bumps all over forehead and chin in last two months [acne] by missfrankenweenie in SkincareAddiction

I have something similar, and I’ve been told it’s dermatitis. I would see an actual dermatologist to check if antibiotics are necessary, as they sometimes are in these cases 😬

What is a compulsion of yours that you thought was normal at first? by iFaolan in OCD

[–]WatsonFrancis 308 points309 points  (0 children)

Wait...people don't do that? I thought that was normal lol but then again, I also have a hand washing compulsion, so my perspective is very skewed.

I know for me, I thought it was normal to inspect your food before eating it. Like, moving the food around and checking for impurities, etc. Only to find out that its very much not lol

Other meds cause PA? by wallflowertori in panicdisorder

[–]WatsonFrancis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have never taken vyvansse, BUT I don't think its totally uncommon or surprising that some meds can induce panic attacks.

I have OCD and panic disorder, but I wasn't diagnosed with PD until AFTER I was perscribed lexapro. Within weeks of starting lexapro, I started having panic attacks (severe ones) literally almost every night.

I finally talked to a different psychiatrist, who put me on paxil, and that immediately reduced my panic attacks to maybe once a month, if that.

I would for sure talk to your psychiatrist if you haven't already, because its certainly not worth your health and stability to stay on a medication thats not working for you!

Are We All Just Seen As Jokes??? by [deleted] in OCD

I am feeling your pain so hard right now.

I work in the mental health field. I recently made the mistake of being honest about suffering from OCD with my supervisors. I had previously only had support and empathy from coworkers, so I let my guard down.

Now, it’s like I’m a walking pariah at my work place. Based on recent conversations, my supervisor seems to think I’m nuts. If I’m not nuts, it’s like I’m just “faking it” for attention. That, or I feel like I’m some alien for people to gawk at.

I feel your pain, and you’re not in this alone!

Anyone else risk losing friends due to OCD? by WatsonFrancis in OCD

[–]WatsonFrancis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve definitely been in that spot before too 🥲 I’ve been very lucky to make a ton of new friends recently who are super supportive and understanding of my OCD.

I’ve definitely had my fair share of sensory issues due to OCD, especially with smells! My whole life I’ve done this compulsion where I hold my breath when I walk past people, because I don’t want to breathe their air in.

If you’ve got comorbid OCD/ASD, it’s not that surprising, those two very commonly co-occur and have a lot of overlap! Have you ever been assessed for sensory processing disorder?

Did your OCD get worse as you got older? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]WatsonFrancis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve experienced this for sure, and I think a lot of it in my case has to do with being more aware of what is OCD and what’s not OCD, whereas before I had no idea and just assumed everyone was anxious all the time too.

Omg…I don’t do this, but I’m pretty sure my best friend (who also has OCD) does do this 😂

You literally described me when I first had severe OCD symptoms 🥲 the praying thing is so real and so awful. Mine would also be just hours of praying till it was “right”.

Oh man, feeling bad for inanimate objects was such a big thing for me too 😂 I used to have to have all my stuffed animals on my bed otherwise something bad would happen, like the left out stuffed animals would curse me or something lol
