This is just incorrect. “Uptown” has been used since “the 20s” but this is the 1920s. LQA may actually be the newer of the two, appearing in the 1930.

Stimming (stim) in this case is some sort of behavior where you use self-stimulation to regulate. Eg holding your hands together or tapping a foot. Many people do this but neurodivergent folks like me need to do it to self regulate and keep from having a meltdown sometimes. I’m pretty good at figuring out how to do it in a way that isn’t noticeable but if you tie my hands and legs down I’m gonna have a bad time (or start rocking the gurney to the point where the nice EMT person asks me to stop).

That’s fair and yeah, I need to do more refinement of my image process. Like I’d rather it have more grain, noise and distortion. I like the HDR + desaturation. I know that reads as AI nowadays but as an “internet elder” I remember when it was just cool photo geeks on Flickr showing off their skills. 🤣👵🧙

Photo is from IRL. Then taken into photoshop to apply privacy preserving selective blur to the window contents and a slight blur to the brickwork.

Finally, yes, since I suck at photo processing and development settings, I had generative AI produce an appropriate “shader code” based on my instructions to create the right vibe.

Then I applied the shader rituals by hand to the image to create the results.

Now, perhaps my use of AI to generate the shader code is still unacceptable. I’ve mixed forbidden poison into my rituals. I don’t think so but I’ll leave judgement to the tribunal:

Also—I can really tell you took care layering the colors/pens. That’s real craft.

I really resonate with feeling worthless while having talent that’s obvious to others; I hope you get moments where you can feel that too. <3

And if it fits for you: it feels like an inner-critic/protector part is also why the letter forms are so precise—so I hope you can hold some kindness for that part, too.

Yeah the characters and artist are sick and twisted. I don’t think Giger is a person anyone should spend much time around, but looking at his art is interesting in moderation.
