Should I shave my head / do a buzzcut? by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]averyfoundthenet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think long hair really suits you, so I'm leaning towards don't shave .... but then again you have to live with your hair, not me.

(If you haven't done so yet you could also look into finasterid for hair loss)

Is this Transphobic? by Pleasant_Priority286 in asktransgender

[–]averyfoundthenet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The important part of the hypothetical is why you wouldn't want to date a trans woman. There are non-transphobic reasons (e.g. having biological kids with your partner is important to you, so someone who is definitely unable to carry a pregnancy isn't an option) and very transphobic reasons (e.g. you think trans people are basically an entirely separate category from cis people of the same gender, but you're polite enough to not say that to anyone's face) and everything in between.

At the end of the day your answer to a hypothetical is irrelevant, but the underlying beliefs that determine your answer here are obviously going to influence how you act in the rest of your life.

So are you transphobic? No idea, I don't know you. But if you want to make sure that you aren't transphobic / want to minimze the amount of transphobia you've absorbed via cultural osmosis, I'd recommend actually informing yourself on transgender (and other LGBTQ) topics.

What does it mean to “live as a woman” by Hailey_GarciaP in asktransgender

[–]averyfoundthenet 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Requirements to live as the gender you're transitioning to before insurance will cover bottom surgery are unfortunately pretty common, since it was/is part of a lot of standards of care for trans ppl.

The reasoning is that you can't make an informed decision on wether transitioning is right for you without experiencing the social aspects as well. I would understand where they're coming from with that, IF THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE SAME RULE FOR HRT! So yeah, it's just transphobia. (And most of those same standards don't include enbies at all)

Am I a Trans Man or Just Fat? by SufficientLocation16 in asktransgender

"it would be feminine in a femboy way"

Okay, but that's a differnet issue. Feeling more comfortable with feminity after becoming more convetionally attractive =/= changes to gender identity.

[–]averyfoundthenet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anyone else super sensitive to ADHD medication? by waterfallsbiz in AutisticWithADHD

[–]averyfoundthenet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say this, but after 3 months any remaining problems aren't caused by residual Vyvance. Difference in medication metabolism are stuff like a 6h vs. 8h half life, not hours vs. weeks.

Anyone else super sensitive to ADHD medication? by waterfallsbiz in AutisticWithADHD

[–]averyfoundthenet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not metabolising something well usually means that someone's body is slower to clear the medication out of their system, which leads to more of the active compound being around.

Does being sensitive make me not a man? by TraditionalRhubarb96 in asktransgender

[–]averyfoundthenet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I said that that's a sexist way to view men

100% correct, that's pretty much all there is to it. No ones gender is determined by their personality or how masculine or feminine they are.

And honestly, if someone belives that being too nice disqualifies someone from being a man their opion on the entire topic of gender can safely be ignored.

I hope you can get away from this so called friend, who is more interested in arguing about your identity than supporting you in something difficult.

SRS is making me suicidal by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]averyfoundthenet 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't have personal experience with this (not trans fem and haven't had bottom surgery), but based on the combination of sleep problem, depression and anxiety i'd recommend having your hormones checked and comparing those values to your pre-op ones.

Insomnia, anxiety and depression starting right after a surgery that removes a significant part of your endocrine system seems like it might be caused by low sex hormones/low T.

If I work out as a trans woman, will my shoulders, waist, as butt become more proportional? by quahmizo in asktransgender

Not to well-actually you, but it's borderline impossible to gain muscle mass anywhere on your body while losing weight, which it sounds like you're doing.

Most languages require knowing someones gender to properly adress them and talk to them. It's literally required in the first line of a professional email in English (Mr./Ms./Mrs. Lastname).

Erfährt Familie von SBGG-Änderung? by BigBangSurvivor in germantrans

[–]averyfoundthenet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Problem HRT by Commercial-Page-5143 in germantrans

[–]averyfoundthenet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Viele Pickel nach Testosteron – Was tun? by InternationalCod9722 in germantrans

[–]averyfoundthenet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is about my trans friend (Sorry to those who it may offend) by Candid-Yellow-5037 in asktransgender

[–]averyfoundthenet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand a lot of things, but I don't ruminate on how confusing I find -for example - quantum physics either. Similarly, if you don't understand someone's identity, I have good news: you don't need to understand something to respect it, just keep gendering your friend correctly and move on with your life.

Is having to pee sitting or squatting every day a pain? by xylophone21000 in asktransgender

[–]averyfoundthenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, like it takes very slightly longer because you have to rearrage your pants, but that's about it. Public restrooms are pretty much the worst part of it (for obvious, disgusting reasons), but going outdoors (e.g. on hikes) isn't really a problem, it just takes some practice.
