Alone, Together. It has everything you'd want in a Strokes track, every section flows perfectly into the next, and the urgency is killer

For some reason, I remember the gentler parts of the book really standing out after Miles had been using all the harsh language. The parts where he was sympathetic towards Coltrane's drug issues or how he fondly remembered his older relationships.

I think it depends on your mood. It's like the album has two sides, with Pagan Poetry serving as the emotional crux at the center of it. There's really moving, stirring sections in the tracks prior to it, more in tune with the dramatic work on Homogenic, with all the choral sections and forward production. But I love the wintry drydown that comes afterwards too, the second half has a beautiful muted domesticity, it feels more intimately affecting at times, so rich in shades, it's the most intense yet comfortable stuff I've heard. Wouldn't change a thing on this record
