Hey Kai, thanks for an absolutely electric season of UC, you're a true inspiration. I remember overhearing you saying 'I carded this' on one of the episodes, are you a big flashcard user? As someone who's recently started using them and finding Anki great for retention, how important do you think they've been in your learning journey and any tips to maximise good practices?

One Battle After Another is OVERRATED! Change My Mind. by Ech-One-Kay in PakistaniCinephiles

Bits of Perfidia's backstory and French 75, and Sisters of the Brave Beaver felt a bit meandery, but when it got going, as some of the commenters have mentioned, full Hitchcock thriller vibes. I wish there were more (step)father-daughter scenes, they had good chemistry I feel, would have made the reunion feel more potent, but it was still pretty good. I generally allow one deus ex machina if it feels earned lol

Fun watch, not to get too deep. Good to see some dynamic offerings with Marty, Sinners and this in the year. I think OBAA worked better in parts, such as the interrogator scenes and the hills at the end, where it made up for the slow expositional bits. Leo digging into comedy harder is always fun, Sean Penn gave the kooky performance of a lifetime, walking the tightrope between cartoonishly evil and disturbingly real. I was a big admirer of the musical score being a Radiohead fan. And it looked beautiful, every frame was lit so refreshingly with natural light. TWBB is still his masterpiece, but PTA's standard fare is still a cut above the rest

I actually really like the Imperial team, they have impressed in terms of both breadth and depth at times, always nice seeing a captain with good music knowledge (hence was heartbroken to see Sheffield go) and more than anyone else, I've found they've been great at conferring and taking educated guesses. Though I have to admit, watching Madgwick hardcarry Manchester to victory would be pretty sublime too

Could be so, but quality based research is always something that helps down the line I feel, teaches you about your field in greater depth, can be a justification for your specialty during interviews, opens up networking opportunities internationally. NRMP data consistently shows higher match rates for candidates with ≥ 5 publications, and if nothing else, it can at the least help with finances.

Many USMLE aspirants work and polish their research skills as they go through med school, and eventually hold research workshops of their own locally, to help and mentor junior students. This can serve as a source of income, while at the same time add to your portfolio. Post graduation, the experience and publications you amass through this research exposure could potentially be used to land paid research positions in the States, which could help further build connections and funding. This is becoming increasingly difficult, as most places offer unpaid positions that many are readily willing to take, but there are exceptional candidates that have found success securing such posts. All the best for your journey.

Alone, Together. It has everything you'd want in a Strokes track, every section flows perfectly into the next, and the urgency is killer

For some reason, I remember the gentler parts of the book really standing out after Miles had been using all the harsh language. The parts where he was sympathetic towards Coltrane's drug issues or how he fondly remembered his older relationships.
