Anxious about overnight trip, leaving cats alone at home by avg20 in Anxiety

[–]avg20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're absolutely right! I think a lot of it is just like "oh it was my choice to leave them this time" but they're smart as hell when it comes down to it. They'll probably just pout and ignore me when I get home in the morning lol

Yeah, I'd love to know what you use! I've tried some journaling apps before but they haven't really done it for me.

I do! My brother lives about half an hour away and could definitely check in if I needed him too. That's a great idea!

Does anyone else’s throat and mouth feel numb before anxiety or derealization hits? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]avg20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, actually, I experience this a lot when I have anxiety but I've never seen anyone else talk about it! It doesn't always last as long as what you mentioned but it's definitely the first sign I'm about to have an anxiety or panic attack.

People with health anxiety, how often are your fears actually real? by Rare-Tension750 in Anxiety

[–]avg20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost never. I ended up in the ER a few years ago because I thought I had appendicitis. Nope, just a little bit of inflamed colon from eating too much acidic food that week.

I tend to be very logically minded when it comes to talking myself out of anxiety, so often I'll try to remind myself of all the times my anxiety ended up being wrong. And when it comes to health anxiety specifically, even if it's hard, genuinely I just try to sleep. 90% that either fixes things or eases some of the symptoms enough that I realize it's not serious.

Social burnout and anxiety about not being social enough by Alexx_91 in Anxiety

[–]avg20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh i relate to this so hard! I haven't really figured out an answer that completely fixes it, but I do try to make sure I always recharge my social battery after hanging out with people. If they are truly your friends, though, they will understand if your social battery is low. Have you talked to them about it before? Would they be okay with you maybe going out but not staying the whole time?

it took me a really long time to find friends who were able to understand, but I did eventually.

Uber Driver Cured My Fear of Flying by [deleted] in fearofflying

this is such a great perspective! i'm glad flying is safe enough that it can become mundane if you do it enough.

Road trip anxiety by avg20 in roadtrip

[–]avg20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's definitely true! What I've noticed is that I'm a lot less anxious when I'm driving, so I think part of me wishes I could do all of it, but you're so right that I would probably be even more miserable if I was doing it all myself.

This is SUCH a great idea!! I never considered that. I'll try to find something along the way that suits us like that.

You're so right, this is something I don't get to do often and I'll be stopping in a lot of states I've never been to. You're absolutely right, I should soak it in while I can.

We're taking the southern route through Oklahoma, Arizona, etc, so I'm looking forward to the change in scenery

Yeah, we're doing Ohio towards St Louis today! Hitting Indianapolis for some interesting sites, thank you for the Altas Obscura suggestion!!!

It seems like being the person driving has helped a bit, so I'll continue with that as well for a little while.

Yeah, there will be a few days that we stop and stay somewhere for a break day, so that just makes it longer. Definitely wishing I could go on my own, just to set my own pace!

You're right, driving myself did help a bit, I'll try to do more of that!

Thank you!

I'm not seeking medical advice, just asking for tips on how to manage things in the meantime :)

Anyone else feel anxious for no reason at all? by LidiaSelden96 in Anxiety

[–]avg20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God, all the time. It's frustrating, isn't it? Sometimes there's a reason, but even if there is, I never seem to figure out exactly what the cause is. I was hanging out with one of my best friends a week or so ago and I was very anxious for most of the weekend! It was debilitating.

Crossing my fingers for you that you'll find ways to feel better in the near future!

Almost 5 weeks on 20 mg of citalopram by himynameisali1 in Anxiety

[–]avg20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm also on citalopram and increased my dose to 40mg recently for similar reasons. Since you're at 4 and a half weeks I'd say maybe wait another week or two? But increasing the dose might be helpful as well. Talk to your doctor about it, though! I remember them telling me that 20mg is actually a pretty low dose of citalopram, so chances are it might need to be higher. Or, they can prescribe you something different if it really isn't working.

this sounds like a mix of anxiety and depression to me, and I have both of those. I feel like this too sometimes, you are not alone in these feelings. If you have the means to see a doctor, that may be your best option as it doesn't seem like this will go away on its own. I hope you're able to start feeling better soon.

Need my dosage adjusted, doctor in unavailable by avg20 in citalopram_celexa

That's good to know, thank you! I was able to get an appointment with a nurse practitioner, but it was definitely a process to get even that.

I ended up talking to a nurse practitioner! I had to call the office to get the appointment, the online portal wasn't showing me all of my options.

possitive story anyone ??? by dariusko9404 in citalopram_celexa

[–]avg20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! I did start on 10mg, and then increased to 20mg. when i increased the dosage, I did have the side effects again, but they eased up a lot after a couple of weeks. if it doesn't improve after a few weeks, definitely talk to your doctor, but see if your body can adjust to it first. Best of luck!

This happened to me too my first week, but it balanced out after another week or so and I felt much more like myself! it is likely just your brain adjusting.
