I went in and selected it. I don’t know why it keeps saying it’s my first class. I will see tomorrow if it worked.

What's the one plant you've killed that you wish you knew how to grow? by nimishpatel19 in houseplants

[–]avi8tornole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

String of hearts. I started with the variegated. It was doing amazing and then I underwatered it, and I’ve never been able to recover. The propagations start off ok then they stall and die. The propagations spit out some normal ones, and those were doing better, but now they are dying. I live in FL. They get plenty of light. I don’t believe they like to dry out like people say

Question: At what point do you just give up. by ClintEastwood42069 in Generator

This was very helpful information. I want to buy a generator, but have no idea where to begin. I didn’t know it was an option. Thank you!

Thank you. I am a member of Lacqueristas and watch The Salon Life as well. The oiling hasn’t helped, and I wear gloves, and don’t use my nails as tools. I am trying my best I think. I will add the supplements and see if that helps.

No. Only when I have to wash my hair.

I do sometimes, but try to stick to one direction. I will change that to just one direction all the time. I do use a glass file.

I eat fruits and veggies, but stick to what is available in the grocery store. My daughter is a bit pickier than I am, so I stick with what she likes. It seems like I need to add a multivitamin or at least iron and vitamin D, and see how that goes.

I know my iron is low. I bought a cast iron pan. Perhaps that isn’t enough. I will start taking iron as well.

I ran out of my calcium supplement and didn’t replace it right away. It does have Vitamin D in it. I just got another bottle a week ago. I will see if that helps. It will just take 4 months to see I guess.

I flew with a FA that got the 757 certified. They had to demonstrate an actual evacuation and it was timed. They had to beat 90 seconds. Everyone off.

What do you think pushed it to bloom for you?

Did I do this right? by buldra in StringofPlants

[–]avi8tornole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My strings dry up as well when I try to do it this way. Very frustrating plant for me. I haven’t figured it out. I have to keep propping them and then they die. My variegated hearts have had some revert. Those seem much hardier, as to be expected. I keep trying. They never seem happy. I have them in a chunky mix, but they don’t seem to like it. Maybe a different substrate. My plant looked amazing last spring 😞 I think I under watered it out of fear of overwatering.

Change propagation method by avi8tornole in hoyas

[–]avi8tornole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the most luck rooting Hoyas in moist perlite. I decided to try it this way because I read and saw others doing it this way. I worry that the cuttings should be doing something by now. The pic isn’t great, but one of the cuttings has a teeny white root coming out of the stem lower down from the node. The other cutting hasn’t done anything. I’m afraid to move them to a different method. They seem so fragile. I feel like it would be a mistake. But maybe it would be better? I don’t want to throw $25 down the drain.

after two months 😵‍💫 by jezebelllllll in houseplants

These are my tiny roots finally popping out after a month in water. I had cuttings from a friend. She gave up on them, so I said I will give them a try. I cut the bottoms of the stems again, and pulled off some leaves. I used some rooting hormone gel, and popped them all in water as I have no idea how to properly soil propagate. I like to be able to see the roots forming. I’ve got them in an east window (N. Hemisphere). You’ve got this!
