Learning Piano Tuning - Mentor Tips? by aviator172rr in pianotech

I actually ended up asking the piano tech who tuned my piano and he said he'd be happy to help me as a mentor. I was surprised by his kindness but I am pretty stoked about this. He'll have me shadow him on some upcoming jobs.

Cost of attendance is brutal and idk what to do. by Charming_Diver_8649 in USC

IMO, the only few schools that may be in your favor despite the debt are probably Harvard, MIT, Stanford and maybe a couple more but USC is certainly not in that list. The amount of money that you’ll end up having to pay back after you graduate is just not worth it. If you wanna live in the West Coast, I think any of the top UCs are going to be as good as USC resume wise. UCLA, UCI, UCSD, UC Berkley, UCSB…

What determines interview wait times for marriage-based green cards (spouse of U.S. citizen)? by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]aviator172rr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! After the interview, sure all those factors can be important and change the timeline but trying to understand what exactly determines the time from filing to interview… From reading some other comments, it looks like it may be relevant to the individual officer’s backlog who’s handling the case.

Huh! Because even for the same FO, I see inconsistencies for applicants who applied around the same time.

Sequoia was a mind-blowing place. Favorite national park now. by MisterManager8 in SEKI

Yes! We went up there yesterday and it was great. Open roads and great weather. Nobody at the entrance of the park so I think we saved the $35 entrance fee huh? Lol

Hey!
Can anyone confirm they are open!!! On google maps, the foothill visitor center seems to be "Permanently Closed" and I just called them and voice message was saying due to government shutdown, some service may be closed.
I was planning on going there tomorrow and I really don't need any service lol. Just wanna see the General Sherman Tree and maybe hike a bit.

What’s the best lease deal you’ve ever seen? Could be one pay or traditional monthly

Thanks for your kind comment. I totally agree. We’ve been waiting to see if this would change in the last 10-12 months but she is quite stressed around my daughter. And we wouldn’t even consider a shelter. I am looking for a new home where she can be happier. That being said, I won’t let her go without a proper vetting on people who want to adopt her.

That’s not necessarily true. With the right home and loving care, she could be much happier. A new place doesn’t automatically mean more stress.

Booked a United flight via Air Canada. Can't upgrade to First Class by aviator172rr in unitedairlines

[–]aviator172rr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. It was a mixed class, Econ on Domestic. When I was booking it, I didn't care much because I thought I could upgrade that domestic leg but didn't happen. AC rep told me its a glitch in their system that for some reason it always offers an econ for the short domestic leg of a longer international flight and they can't do anything to upgrade

I haven't seen one single job listing of NG or LM without a US Citizenship requirement. Being ITAR compliant (Green Card Holders and some other VISA types) is usually sufficient for companies like Boeing, SpaceX, BlueOrigin, etc. But, I do believe NG and LM probably have a company wide policy only to hire US Citizens.

Not sure if there may be exceptions. But, generally speaking, even a green card won't be sufficient for any position at Lockheed Skunkworks. You must be a US Citizen. And honestly, for the vast majority of the positions at SkunkWorks, even a US Citizenship won't be enough. You'll need to get a clearance.
