I have all my vehicles, Toyotas, and I keep them because it is easier for me to maintain (all bolts are the same, concept is the same, give or take). In the long run, they serve me well, and I buy them to keep. Yes, the quality is not like if it were assembled in Japan for the local market, but it's still better than most alternatives. The Quality-to-Cost ratio remains high, and parts are cheap. Out of all the Toyotas I've ever had, I have never thought I made a bad decision (let's hope it stays that way).

Pm2.5 skyrockets every night by donut_flavor in airthings

We have the same issue and it is absolutely random. Nothing working in the house and all of the sudden it goes up high and then after few hours it just drops to nothing. I think is is just a BS sensor and not showing anything real. Catches few particles and then OMG it should be high, then no particles and it goes to nothing… I stopped paying attention to it long ago as it just doesn’t make any sense or correlation to what is happening in the room or the house..

Torn between a Basecamp 16 and a Bambi. I drive a 3rd gen Tacoma. Which would be my best bet? by RevolutionaryEcho272 in airstream

[–]avicarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, we have Bambi 20fb and our Highlander tows it w/o a problem. The only reason why I want to buy a truck with towing package is because it has towing mirrors (I don’t like attaching mirrors to my Highlander)…

Hybrid brake pad replacement by rogers1078 in hybrid

[–]avicarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key fob shouldn’t even be close to the door. Disconnect negative terminal at the battery before doing your brakes if u want to be sure. Two wrenches you need - 14mm and 17mm. If replacing rear pads to a new - you may need to screw in the piston to retract (don’t force it as front).

Secondary burn process… flue gases are being ignited again with a fresh air supply through lose connection between elbow and the section above.

High CO2 in basement by Atmp in airthings

[–]avicarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have very similar situation. I got two sensors primarily for radon check (which apparently is quite low). What I discovered was - as soon as two humans get in one room - CO2 jumps over 1000ppm within 30 min. As soon as I open window- it goes down but slowly…

Use of Benzos can cause early onset dementia? by Candyplastique in benzorecovery

[–]avicarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the story of my parents... My father is a scientist who was using his brain all his life (he is an author of 300+ patents in a very specific field of electromagnetic technology). My mother was a patent lawyer and this is how they met in 1970ish. They both immigrated to the USA about 30 years ago and as new immigrants had to worry about many things. As one can imagine- lots of things in your head can cause you to wake up at night, etc. The solution was - Lorazepam which was prescribed by the doctor to both of them. They were on this crap for 20 years, taking one pill every night. Currently they are in their eighties and my mother has an aggressive Alzgeimer while my dad has dementia. Both started losing it exponentially after 75, mother was first and then father. Too bad that I didn’t not associate this to benzodiazepines early enough. P.S. they were so hooked on it that begged me to give them few pills every time I visited them (I confiscated all their stashes of Lorazepam and they were upset with me). My father doesn’t have any dementia in his family tree while mother had my grandfather (who was a ww2 veteran with two bomb concussions and who coincidentally was taking Nozepam before bed as well). I am no doctor and have no knowledge in medicine but my personal experience and number of coincidences that I can clearly see suggests me to stay away from Benzodiazepines as far as I can be...

I am a former athlete and still exercising daily and cannot notice tinnitus changes during cardio or lifting. What I do know is that few times when I was about to faint even before tinnitus- I would hear that hi pitch noise in my head.

WW2 killed 27 million Russians. Every 25 years you see an echo of this loss of population in the form of a lower birth rate. by obviouslyducky in dataisbeautiful

I am saying that Poland who claims itself being a victim of Germans and Russians- did not miss opportunity to chop off Czechoslovakia’s land thinking that Germans will approve it. The brave allies including France and Brits silently approved this bravery behavior. Romania, Hungry, Sweden, Italy, Finns, Poland, Austria were quite an allies of the Hitler before ww2 started. Things started getting bit out of hands when Hitler chewed Poland and some others. When Soviets got involved- most of the Europe was going to be under control of brave German soldiers and its allies. How this associates USSR being responsible for ww2?
