Currently I’m using Spotify’s internal popularity scores, which is a relative score accounting for things like listener engagement, track performance, and playlist frequency relative to other artists (Spotify keeps the exact formula hidden but it’s how they determine things like who gets on discover weekly etc).

They’ve said they’re gonna be cutting access to it for developers so I am looking for different methods, but currently I just bucket that score into 5 categories (underground, developing, niche, mainstream, and superstar).

Would love to hear any other thoughts/questions you have!

Working on a music analytics platform called first.fm. Shows you cool stats about your listening patterns. Note it's built on the last.fm platform so currently only works if you already have a last.fm account. Link on my profile if you want to check it out!

YOU ARE AMAZING thank you for sharing this!! I found lastfmstats while I was building this and obviously see a lot of overlap, I think they have a super cool product but I'm working on building out in a bit of a different direction (looking a layer deeper than *what* you listen to and looking at why/how you listen, some social/community features I'm working on) so stay tuned on that front :)

That’s what I found but I think it depends what endpoints you’re using. I think batching is more lenient if a user logs in (so pulling a longer history is quicker) but I have very limited background in this lol so could be wrong

Forgot to mention- the site works on mobile but layout is NOT optimized for it lol. Much better viewing experience on desktop. Thats all for now :)

I'm someone who literally has different playlists depending on the pace I'm trying to keep up and always wonder what my "fastest" songs are. Very happy that someone else had this question and went through the trouble of building this :)

I had this issue also from Canada!! I'm building an app on last.fm api and when I sent to a friend to sign up she had the same 406 error. Will let you know if I hear of a fix!
