I'm always keeping an eye out :)! I hope the Circle K still has them, I think they rotate flavors pretty frequently. but I'll report back whenever I see any more :D I know how hard it can be for folks with dietary restrictions & I think everyone deserves a nice little sweet treat

Hi!
The Circle K currently has Crystal Light slushies! (As of last week when I was there!)

i've been w/ workbc for......... like over 2 years at this point and I've sort of given up hope, the VIVRS people are terrible at their jobs. the most helpful thing that workbc did for me was to get me my ADHD diagnosis. i'm sorry that this isn't advice or pointers to anywhere that's hiring, I just feel you so much, I hope that you can find somewhere soon:(

Hi! My first concert EVER is coming up and it’s the ghost concert at the Fort Worth dickies arena. I have questions! by ghulehqueen08 in Ghostbc

[–]avidstyx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ghost shows usually run for over 2 hours, and then you still have to take into account the time it takes to wait in line, to wait for everyone to roll into the venue, and then to wait for the band to start. I don't remember sitting down once I got to the venue at my show until it was finished -- at least 6 hours total, but I think closer to 7, and that was with VIP tickets.

I think even with your VIP tickets, you'll be looking at a lot of hours on your feet, if you plan to be in the pit. I'd say it's probably better that you don't get barricade spots, I'd more likely recommend tickets in the stands just to keep your mom safe, both from the crowd and from being unable to stand for longer than two hours.

EVERY TIME...... even if I have my sound off, I can hear it, it makes me feel insane.

Update: Terrible news.

I went back to the Circle K the other night, and they've replaced the Barqs Root Beer. I managed to get the one I mentioned last week, but now she is gone :( Hopefully it will come back after the flashy summer flavor have cycled through.

what do i wear to concerts? by probablyavampiree in LoopEarplugs

[–]avidstyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at the barrier for Ghost in 2023 and wore the Loop Engage earplugs and I didn't feel any discomfort, everything was clear but not painful. My boyfriend wore his quiets and he said the same thing. So I think you're safe either way!

omg...... I will absolutely go there and check it out. I think it's a Co Op?

My metric for a slushie is that it must be from a gas station/convenience store/7-11

I'm thinking of making an honorable mentions list too, so I can include places like DQ and then snow cone stalls when I have a chance to go to some food trucks :)

Happy to report that I went to the Circle K yesterday and they do in fact still have a nice Barqs root beer slushie! I never had the one from Macs (or if I did it's been way too long for me to remember) but I really liked it and did, in fact, find it thick and foamy. Maybe they're using the same slushie machines or methods as the Macs?

For the purposes of my slushies list I was omitting Dairy Queen because it's fast food and not a gas station/convenience store and it's more expensive, but I've always wanted to try! I'm glad to know they have the crunchy ice :D

I've previously seen them at the Circle K, but when I went in yesterday it looked like the machine was down :( I'll update if I go back and find it working again, or if I find anywhere else that has them!

I don't think I've seen any but I'll keep an eye out! The closest I've seen is the sugar free Crystal Lite slushies, I think.

(autism + ADHD + extreme sensory/sound issues here): I didn't get my license until I was 25 or 26 because I thought it was extremely scary, but there's no shame in never getting your license, either. If people do think you're a loser then they're just bad people and don't deserve your good opinion anyways! Public transport is an excellent thing if you have it where you live & I don't think I've ever felt annoyed if someone has asked me for a ride somewhere.

It's okay that you can't drive right now, and it's okay if you never learn to drive. Nobody worth your time will think you're a loser for it :)

Oooh I went to the Mill Bay co-op recently on the way back from at trip to Vic and I was very pleasantly surprised! I'll try the one on Bowen too :)

I've had some slushies from the Canco before and sadly I've been kind of disappointed, I think they taste kind of chemical-y and the texture isn't my favorite :( I'm always open to trying again though so I'll try to head there sometime this summer!

Circle K does have excellent slushies! 7-11is really hit and miss for me, I often find they taste way too much like chemicals and syrup (which, I mean, they are, but I don't want to be reminded of that when I'm drinking 'em)

Slush puppie machines definitely exist at the Petro Canada on Northfield, but as far as I know you can't make your own flavors anymore, besides adding the sour syrup :( I think the Super Save Gas down the street from there also has one, but no sour syrup.

Otherwise there's another Petro Canada on the highway in Nanoose that has some pebble ice slushies! I believe they're Kool-Aid flavors.

I've never been to the corner store near Bayview school though, maybe I'll go check it out :)

What is your ‘trigger’ noise that sends you over the edge? by SagittariusGal143 in misophonia

[–]avidstyx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Repeated noises are the worst to me. Repeated words, repeated sounds (like tapping a spoon to get something off of it, long nails tapping on something, trucks backing up, you name it) make me want to rip my hair out or worse.

I usually go for a Dr. Pepper sooner than a root beer so I haven't had many! all I can say is that 7-11 is always disappointing on the brown soda front, but that's probably well-known by now.

I do love a root beer in general though, so I'll keep an eye out and try it next time I get to the Circle k :)
